The title compound, C(15)H(13)N(3)O(4)·CH(4)O, was synthesized from the reaction of 4-methoxy-benzaldehyde with 4-nitro-benzohydrazide in methanol. The benzene rings of the Schiff base mol-ecule are nearly coplanar, making a dihedral angle of 7.0 (3)°. The methanol solvent mol-ecules are linked to the Schiff base mol-ecules by N-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains running parallel to the b axis.

Bone disorders have increased with increasing the human lifespan, and despite the tissue's ability to self-regeneration, in many congenital problems and hard fractures, bone grafting such as autograft, allograft, and biomaterials implantation through surgery is traditionally used. Because of the adverse effects of these methods, the emergence of injectable hydrogels without the need for surgery and causing more pain for the patient is stunning to develop a new pattern for hard tissue engineering. These materials are formed with various natural and synthetic polymers with a crosslinked network through various chemical methods such as click chemistry, Michael enhancement, Schiff's base and enzymatic reaction and physical interactions with high water absorption which can mimic the environment of cells.

Departamento de Química Inorgánica, Analítica y Química Física, Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Intendente Güiraldes 2160, Piso 3, Ciudad Universitaria, C1428EGA Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In this study, we present a new N-derivative of L-phenylalanine with 2-naphthaldehyde (PN), obtained by the Schiff base formation procedure and its subsequent reduction. This compound was crystallized as a zwitterion {2-[(naphthalen-2-ylmethyl)azaniumyl]-3-phenylpropanoate, CHNO}, as an anion in a sodium salt (catena-poly[[diaquasodium(I)-di-μ-aqua] 2-[(naphthalen-2-ylmethyl)amino]-3-phenylpropanoate monohydrate], {[Na(HO)](CHNO)·HO}), as a cation in a chloride salt [(1-carboxy-2-phenylethyl)(naphthalen-2-ylmethyl)azanium chloride acetic acid monosolvate, CHNO·Cl·CHCOOH], and additionally acting as a ligand in the pentacoordinated zinc compound aquabis{2-[(naphthalen-2-ylmethyl)amino]-3-phenylpropanoato-κO}zinc(II), [Zn(CHNO)(HO)] or [Zn(PN)(HO)], denoted (PN-Zn), with the amino acid derivative in its carboxylate form.

A soybean protein isolate (SPI)-based hydrogel with controllable properties was prepared under mild conditions using a simple mixing method with dialdehyde sodium alginate (DSA) as an eco-friendly macromolecular crosslinker. DSA was successfully synthesized via periodate oxidation. Analysis of the structure of the SPI/DSA hydrogel indicated that a 3D network was formed between SPI and DSA through dynamic imine and hydrogen bonds.

The current research focused on the synthesis of two series of pyrazole derivatives and evaluation of their insecticidal effectiveness. In the first series, seven pyrazole Schiff bases 3a-g were successfully synthesized with yields (79-95%) by condensing phenylfuran-2-carbaldehyde with substituted pyrazole rings. In the second series, eleven amino acid-pyrazole conjugates 6a-k were synthesized utilizing acetic acid, sulfuric acid, morpholine, and EDC.
