The title compound, [Zn(C(7)H(4)FO(2))(2)(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O, is a monomeric complex. It contains two 4-fluoro-benzoate and two nicotinamide ligands and one uncoordinated water mol-ecule. The 4-fluoro-benzoates act as bidentate chelating ligands, while the nicotinamides are monodentate. The six-coordinate geometry around the Zn(II) atom may be described as highly distorted octa-hedral, with the two nicotinamide ligands arranged cis. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a supra-molecular structure.

Since the trabecular meshwork (TM) is central to intraocular pressure (IOP) regulation and glaucoma, a deeper understanding of its genomic landscape is needed. We present a multimodal, single-cell resolution analysis of mouse limbal cells (includes TM). In total, we sequenced 9,394 wild-type TM cell transcriptomes.

Hepatocellular cancer (HCC) therapy is in need for an ideal companion diagnostic. Preclinical experimental studies have identified the insulin receptor (IR) and its synergistic counterpart, the IGF1 receptor (IGF1R), as relevant in HCC development, and the ligands IGF1 and IGF2 have been found to be elevated in HCC. This study aimed to bridge the gap to the clinical setting and explore whether the IR or the IGF1R would be of prognostic significance and would be associated with clinicopathologic parameters in HCC patients.

Background/objectives: Diabetes mellitus (DM), a widespread endocrine disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia, can cause nerve damage and increase the risk of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). Effective blood glucose management is essential, and sitagliptin (SITG), a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 () inhibitor, may offer neuroprotective benefits in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: T2DM was induced in rats using nicotinamide (NICO) and streptozotocin (STZ), and biomarkers of AD and DM-linked enzymes, inflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis were evaluated in the brain.

Visfatin, an adipokine secreted by various cell types, plays multifaceted pathophysiological roles in inflammatory conditions, including obesity, which is closely associated with osteoclastogenesis, a key process underlying bone loss and increased osteoporosis (OP) risk. However, the role of visfatin in osteoclastogenesis remains controversial. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of visfatin on receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL)-induced osteoclast differentiation from precursor cells in vitro.

The peptidoglycan biosynthetic pathway involves a series of enzymatic reactions in which UDP-N-acetylglucosamine-enolpyruvate reductase (MurB) plays a crucial role in catalyzing the conversion of UDP-N-acetylglucosamine-enolpyruvate (UNAGEP) to UDP-N-acetylmuramic acid. This reaction relies on NADPH and FAD and, since MurB is not found in eukaryotes, it is an attractive target for the development of antimicrobials. MurB from Brucella ovis, the causative agent of brucellosis in sheep, is characterized here.
