Acute leukoencephalopathy with restricted diffusion (ALERD) is an emerging clinico-radiological syndrome marked by sudden onset encephalopathy and characteristic restricted diffusion in the subcortical white matter on MRI. While typically linked to other viral etiologies, its association with dengue fever is not well known and is rarely documented in the literature. In this report, we describe a rare case of ALERD associated with dengue fever in a young patient, emphasizing clinical features, neuroimaging findings, management, and outcome.

Background: Sickle cell disease (SCD) and β-thalassemia patients with elevated gamma globin (HBG1/G2) levels exhibit mild or no symptoms. To recapitulate this natural phenomenon, the most coveted gene therapy approach is to edit the regulatory sequences of HBG1/G2 to reactivate them. By editing more than one regulatory sequence in the HBG promoter, the production of fetal hemoglobin (HbF) can be significantly increased.

Background: Treatment of peripheral nerve defects is a major concern in regenerative medicine. This study therefore aimed to explore the efficacy of a neural graft constructed using adipose mesenchymal stem cells (ADSC), acellular microtissues (MTs), and chitosan in the treatment of peripheral nerve defects.
Methods: Stem cell therapy with acellular MTs provided a suitable microenvironment for axonal regeneration, and compensated for the lack of repair cells in the neural ducts of male 8-week-old Sprague Dawley rats.
