In the title complex, [Ni(C(11)H(9)ClN(3)O(2))(2)]·4H(2)O, the Ni atom is coordinated by four N atoms and two O atoms derived from two tridentate 3-chloro-6-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)picolinate ligands. The cis-N(4)O(2) donor set defines a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal structure, the complex and water mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

A nickel(II) terephthalate complex, [Ni(CHN)(HO)](OCCHCO)·4HO, has been synthesized and studied by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the triclinic space group . The crystal structure shows an approximately octa-hedral coordination environment of the complex with the [Ni(HO)(3-NCpy)] (3-NCpy is pyridine-3-carbo-nitrile) cation associated with four free water mol-ecules and hydrogen bonded to a terephthalate dianion [graph set (8)].

A 6-chloro-nicotinate (6-Clnic) salt of a one-dimensional cationic nickel(II) coordination polymer with 4,4'-bi-pyridine (4,4'-bpy), namely, -poly[[[tetra-aqua-nickel(II)]-μ-4,4'-bi-pyridine-κ :'] bis-(6-chloro-nicotinate) tetra-hydrate], {[Ni(CHN)(HO)](CHClNO)·4HO} or {[Ni(4,4'-bpy)(HO)](6-Clnic)·4HO} , (), was prepared by the reaction of nickel(II) sulfate hepta-hydrate, 6-chloro-nicotinic acid and 4,4'-bi-pyridine in a mixture of water and ethanol. The mol-ecular structure of comprises a one-dimensional polymeric {[Ni(4,4'-bpy)(HO)]} cation, two 6-chloro-nicotinate anions and four water mol-ecules of crystallization per repeating polymeric unit. The nickel(II) ion in the polymeric cation is octa-hedrally coordinated by four water mol-ecule O atoms and by two 4,4'-bi-pyridine N atoms in the position.

The reaction of Ni acetate tetra-hydrate with 4-methyl-2-(1,2,3,4-tetra-hydro-naphthalen-1-yl-idene)hydrazinecarbo-thio-amide in a 2:1 molar ratio and recrystallization from di-methyl-formamide yielded the title compound, [Ni(CHNS)]·CHNO. The ligands act as monoanionic κ,-donors, forming five-membered metallarings. The Ni ion is fourfold coordinated in a distorted square-planar -configuration, which is rather uncommon for mono-thio-semicarbazone complexes.

The reaction of 3-hy-droxy-benzoic (m-hy-droxy-benzoic) acid (MHBA), tri-ethano-lamine (TEA) and Ni(NO3)2 in aqueous solution led to formation of the hydrated title salt, [Ni(C6H15NO3)2](C7H5O3)·4H2O. In the complex cation, the Ni(2+) ion is located on an inversion centre. Two symmetry-related TEA ligands occupy all coordination sites in an N,O,O'-tridentate coordination, leading to a slightly distorted NiN2O4 octa-hedron.

The reaction of Ni(II) acetate tetra-hydrate with the ligand 4-phenyl-2-(1,2,3,4-tetra-hydro-naphthalen-1-yl-idene)hydrazinecarbo-thio-amide in a 2:1 molar ratio yielded the title compound, [Ni(C16H16N3S)2]·2C4H8O·H2O. The deprotonated ligands act as N,S-donors, forming five-membered metallacycles with the metal ion exhibiting a cis coordination mode unusual for thio-semicarbazone complexes. The Ni(II) ion is four-coordinated in a tetra-hedrally distorted square-planar geometry.
