Purpose: To study the curative effect of amnion membrane transplantation on decreasing corneal neovascularization(CNV) induced by alkali burn.
Methods: It was a non-randomized retrospective case-control study. Among 19 cases (23 eyes) of third-degree alkali burns from 2006 to 2010, 11 cases (13 eyes) were performed with amnion membrane transplantation operation, and others were not. Amnion membrane transplantation was performed at 3rd day after burns in the treatment group. Ages and treatments beyond surgery of double groups were matched. Areas of CNV in double groups were measured at the 14th and 60th days after burn. RESULTS:Area of CNV in the treatment group was (62.133±8.571) mm² at the 14th day after burn, and was 30.6% lower than that in the control group. Area of CNV in the treatment group was (112.019±17.362)mm² at the 14th day after burn, and was 13.5% lower than that in the control group. There was statistical significance between the two groups (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Amnion membrane transplantation operation can inhibit the growth of corneal neovascularization induced by alkali burn.

Background: Chorioamnionitis is recognized as a major consequence of preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), and a frequent cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality. The association between fetal heart rate (FHR) and chorioamnionitis remains unclear.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the dynamics of FHR in a PPROM population at the approach of delivery according to the presence or absence of chorioamnionitis.

Oral squamous cell papilloma is a benign proliferation of the stratified squamous epithelium, associated with the human papillomavirus (HPV). The clinical manifestation includes papillary or verrucous exophytic mass. Complete excision of the lesion, including normal margins, followed by histopathological examination is the treatment of choice.

Aim: Maternal colonization by Enterobacteriaceae that produce extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL-E) has risen, and the antimicrobial resistance of ESBL-E is significant. We aimed to evaluate the rates of ESBL-E colonization among women with preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) and of maternal-neonatal vertical transmission. We also aimed to compare obstetrical and neonatal complications among ESBL-E positive versus negative maternal colonization in pregnancies complicated by PPROM.

The dehydrated human amnion-chorion membranes (dHACMs) derived from the human placenta have emerged as a promising biomaterial for dental pulp regeneration owing to their unique biological and structural properties. The purpose of this review is to explore the potentials of dHACMs in dental pulp tissue engineering, focusing on their ability to promote cellular proliferation, differentiation, angiogenesis, and neurogenesis. dHACMs are rich in extracellular matrix proteins and growth factors such as TGF-β1, FGF2, and VEGF.

A 54-year-old female with myelodysplastic syndrome on chemotherapy presented with 10 days of periocular erythema and edema worsening on oral antibiotics. Computed Tomography scan showed periorbital soft tissue swelling without postseptal extension or abscess. Intravenous broad-spectrum antibiotics were administered.
