Aims: Multiple myeloma (MM) remains a challenging condition to cure, with persistent drug resistance negating the benefits of treatment advancements. The unraveling complexities in programmed cell death (PCD), inclusive of apoptosis, autophagy, and ferroptosis, have highlighted novel therapeutic avenues. Our study focuses on deciphering how adapalene (ADA), a small molecule compound, accelerates the demise of MM cells via targeting their compensatory survival mechanisms.

Background: Emergency departments (EDs) are frequently overcrowded and increasingly used by nonurgent patients. Symptom checkers (SCs) offer on-demand access to disease suggestions and recommended actions, potentially improving overall patient flow. Contrary to the increasing use of SCs, there is a lack of supporting evidence based on direct patient use.

pH/ROS dual stimuli-responsive anionic flexible supramolecular organic frameworks for synergistic therapy.

Acta Biomater

December 2023

The Institute for Advanced Studies, Wuhan University, 299 Bayi Road, Wuhan, Hubei 430072, China. Electronic address:

Supramolecular organic frameworks (SOFs) have emerged as a promising class of organic porous materials with vast potential as nanocarriers for combination therapy. Here, we successfully construct an anionic flexible supramolecular organic framework (TPP-SOF) by leveraging multiple host-guest interactions. TPP-SOF is fabricated by the hierarchical orthogonal assembly between anionic water-soluble dimacrocyclic host (P5CD), porphyrin photosensitizers (TPP), and ROS-sensitive thioketal linked adamantane dimer (Ada-S-Ada).

Background & Aims: Efruxifermin has shown clinical efficacy in patients with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and F1-F3 fibrosis. The primary objective of the BALANCED Cohort C was to assess the safety and tolerability of efruxifermin in patients with compensated NASH cirrhosis.

Methods: Patients with NASH and stage 4 fibrosis (n = 30) were randomized 2:1 to receive efruxifermin 50 mg (n = 20) or placebo (n = 10) once-weekly for 16 weeks.
