Background: Group A streptococcal necrotizing soft-tissue infection with toxic shock is a life-threatening disease. Corticosteroid use in the treatment of this process has been reported rarely.
Method: Case reports and review of pertinent literature.
Results: Two infections caused by the same clonal strain of Streptococcus pyogenes are presented.
Conclusion: The cases illustrate the possible utility of high-dose steroids in the treatment of this process.

Introduction: Given the risks of cardiovascular disease among pediatric kidney transplant recipients, we evaluated whether there was an association between rapid weight gain (RWG) following kidney transplantation and the development of obesity and hypertension among children enrolled in the North American Pediatric Renal Trials and Collaborative Studies (NAPRTCS) registry.
Methods: This retrospective analysis of the NAPRTCS transplant cohort assessed for RWG in the first year post-transplant and evaluated for obesity and hypertension in children with and without RWG up to 5 years post-transplant. We evaluated three separate eras (1986-1999, 2000-2009, and 2010-2021).

Some studies have shown an association between dyslipidemia and diabetic neuropathy (DN), but the genetic association has not been clarified. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the genetic causal association between dyslipidemia and DN through a Mendelian randomization (MR) approach. Genetic causal associations between total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) and DN were investigated by MR to provide a basis for the prevention and treatment of DN.

Objective: To assess the association of systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP and DBP) in recently menopausal women with white matter hyperintensity (WMH) volume later in life and determine whether short-term menopausal hormone therapy (mHT) modifies these associations.
Methods: Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study (KEEPS) was a multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled 4-year mHT trial (oral conjugated equine estrogens or transdermal 17β-estradiol). KEEPS continuation was an observational follow-up of the participants 10 years after the end of mHT.

Background: Corticosteroids are used in managing Chronic Rhinosinusitis (CRS) through several formulations, including oral steroids and nasal sprays. More recently, incorporating concentrated budesonide respules into high-volume saline irrigations has been proposed to enhance the penetration of topical steroids into the paranasal sinuses. We aim to evaluate the safety and efficacy of budesonide nasal irrigation (BNI) in managing CRS.
