Aim: To investigate the protective effect of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) on nephropathy in rats with pregnancy induced hypertension and to study its possible mechanism.
Methods: The levels of the expression of renal ERK1/2 protein and mRNA were detected in PIH rats which were made by injection of L-NAME, normal pregnant rats and rats treated with LMWH by immunohistochemistry, Western blotting and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). The renal tissue was observed by using light microscopy.
Results: The expression level of renal ERK1/2 protein and mRNA in LMWH-treated rats were significantly lower than that in PIH rats, while the expression level of renal ERK1/2 protein and mRNA in PIH rats was significantly higher than that in normal pregnant rats (P < 0.01), the intensity of ERK1/2 expression had no obvious differences among 3 groups. The average arterial pressure and urine protein in LMWH group were decreased, but no decrease was observed in normal rats. Mesangial expansion and basal membrane thickening were obviously retarded in LMWH- treated group.
Conclusion: LMWH has renal protective effect on PIH rats, whose mechanism may be associated partly with a down-regulation of ERK expression.

Hyperthermia induced by phenethylamines, such as 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), can lead to life-threatening complications and death. Activation of the sympathetic nervous system and subsequent release of norepinephrine and activation of uncoupling proteins have been demonstrated to be the key mediators of phenethylamine-induced hyperthermia (PIH). Recently, the gut microbiome was shown to also play a contributing role in PIH.

Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) is a hypertensive disorder during pregnancy and can induce perinatal death of human infants. MicroRNA (miR)-195-5p was validated to display low expression in severe preeclampsia placentas, but the role of miR-195-5p in pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) has not been investigated. The study emphasized on the functions and mechanism of miR-195-5p in PIH.

To explore the effects and mechanism of annexin A1 ()-overexpressing human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AMSCs) in the treatment of mice with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The experimental study method was adopted. After the adult AMSCs were identified by flow cytometry, the 3 passage cells were selected for the follow-up experiments.

To investigate the effect and mechanism of glycine on rat cardiomyocytes pretreated with serum from burned rats (hereinafter referred to as burn serum). Experimental research methods were adopted. Thirty gender equally balanced Wistar rats aged 7 to 8 weeks were collected, 10 of which were used to prepare normal rat serum (hereinafter referred to as normal serum), and the other 20 were inflicted with full-thickness burn of 30% total body surface area to prepare burn serum.

Comorbidities during the period between seizures present a significant challenge for individuals with epilepsy. Despite their clinical relevance, the pathophysiology of the interictal symptomatology is largely unknown. Postictal severe hypoxia (PIH) in those brain regions participating in the seizure has been indicated as a mechanism underlying several negative postictal manifestations.
