Aim: To probe the related proteins to stress-induced myocardium injury.
Methods: After establishment of a myocardium injury model induced by restraint stress in rats, myocardium proteins of restraint stress-treated and untreated rats were extracted, and the two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2-DE) maps of the extracted proteins were established by using the immobilized pH gradient (IPG) and SDS-PAGE two-dimensional electrophoresis respectively. The alterative protein spots were analyzed by Image Master 3.01 software and identified with assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) and database searching.
Results: Proteomics analysis showed that there were 10 proteins were significantly influenced by restraint stress in rat myocardium. After stress, proteins, including cardiac myosin heavy chain, dihydrolipoamide succinyltransferase component of 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex, similar to dihydrolipoamide S-succinyltransferase, mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase, H (+)-transporting ATP synthase, albumin, myosin heavy chain and apolipoprotein A-I precursor showed increased expression. Mitochondrial aconitase and uncoupling protein UCP-3 showed decreased expression.
Conclusion: These differential expressive proteins might be involved in stress-induced injury to myocardium.

The paper examines the impact of passive restraint on fire-induced spalling in concrete, utilizing a concrete mixture to minimize compositional variability. A variety of specimen geometries was prepared, including standard cubes and cylinders for the determination of mechanical properties and slabs of different dimensions for fire spalling tests conducted under controlled conditions. A top-opening Dragon furnace, which applies ISO 834-1 fire curves, was used to evaluate the influence of "cold rim" boundaries, where slab edges were insulated to create thermal restraint.

Sensory disabilities have been identified as significant risk factors for dementia but underlying molecular mechanisms are unknown. In different Drosophila models with loss of sensory input, we observe non-autonomous induction of the integrated stress response (ISR) deep in the brain, as indicated by eIF2α phosphorylation-dependent elevated levels of the ISR effectors ATF4 and XRP1. Unlike during canonical ISR, however, the ATF4 and XRP1 transcription factors are enriched in cytosolic granules that are positive for RNA and the stress granule markers Caprin, FMR1, and p62, and are reversible upon restoration of vision for blind flies.
