Anticancer drugs cause anemia in patients through eryptosis and hemolysis. We thus studied the in vitro toxicity of galangin (GAL) in red blood cells (RBCs). RBCs were exposed to 50-500 μM of GAL and analyzed for markers of eryptosis and hemolysis.

Morphogen-driven differentiation is precluded by physical confinement in human iPSCs spheroids.

Introduction: Cell lineage specification is tightly associated with profound morphological changes in the developing human embryo, particularly during gastrulation. The interplay between mechanical forces and biochemical signals is poorly understood.

Methods: Here, we dissect the effects of biochemical cues and physical confinement on a 3D model based on spheroids formed from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs).

Article Synopsis
  • Polygalacturonic acid (PGA) improved gut microbiota diversity and boosted T cell activity in tumors, enhancing cancer treatment effectiveness.
  • When orally administered with a lipopolysaccharide-encapsulated therapy (LPS/PPP), PGA significantly inhibited CT26 tumor growth by 67.6% and rebalanced gut microbiota.
  • The combination therapy (PGA_LPS) also increased T cell responses, reduced immunosuppressive cells, and worked well with αPD-L1 immunotherapy, suggesting a promising strategy to boost anti-cancer treatments.

Neuronanomedicine is an emerging field bridging the gap between neuromedicine and novel nanotherapeutics. Despite promise, clinical translation of neuronanomedicine remains elusive, possibly due to a dearth of information regarding the effect of the protein corona on these neuronanomedicines. The protein corona, a layer of proteins adsorbed to nanoparticles following exposure to biological fluids, ultimately determines the fate of nanoparticles in biological systems, dictating nanoparticle-cell interactions.

The basidiomycete fungus is a useful model for investigating mechanisms of fungal pathogenesis in mammalian hosts. This pathogen is the causative agent of cryptococcal meningitis in immunocompromised patients and is in the critical priority group of the World Health Organization fungal priority pathogens list. In this study, we employed a mutant lacking the gene encoding a methylene-fatty-acyl-phospholipid synthase to characterize the role of phosphatidylcholine (PC) and lipid homeostasis in the virulence of .
