An aptamer-based chromatographic strip assay method for rapid toxin detection was developed. The aptamer-based strip assay was based on the competition for the aptamer between ochratoxin A and DNA probes. The sensing results indicated that the sensitivity of the aptamer-based strip was better than that of conventional antibody-based strips. The visual limit of detection of the strip for qualitative detection was 1 ng/mL while the LOD for semi-quantitative detection could down to 0.18 ng/mL by using scanning reader. The recoveries of test samples were from 96% to 110%. All detections could be achieved in less than 10 min, indicating that the aptamer-based strip could be a potential useful tool for rapid on-site detections.

Objective: To test whether an artificial intelligence (AI) deep neural network (DNN)-derived analysis of the 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) can distinguish patients with long QT syndrome (LQTS) from those with acquired QT prolongation.
Methods: The study cohort included all patients with genetically confirmed LQTS evaluated in the Windland Smith Rice Genetic Heart Rhythm Clinic and controls from Mayo Clinic's ECG data vault comprising more than 2.5 million patients.

Deep learning-based morphometric analysis of zebrafish is widely utilized for non-destructively identifying abnormalities and diagnosing diseases. However, obtaining discriminative and continuous organ category decision boundaries poses a significant challenge by directly observing zebrafish larvae from the outside. To address this issue, this study simplifies the organ areas to polygons and focuses solely on the endpoint positioning.

Background: Fasciolopsis buski is a large fluke that parasitises the human small intestine, with its infection in the biliary tract being even rarer. Given its relatively rare occurrence in recent years, the clinical diagnosis of F. buski infections can pose certain challenges.

The lateral flow assay is a strip-based analytical method for the portable and convenient detection of analytes of interest. It has the advantages of visual observation, autonomous sample flow, fast coloration time, minimal tedious operation procedures, and reliance on specialized instruments. However, the rough surface of the nitrocellulose membrane renders it difficult for the immobilized nucleic acids to remain in an ordered arrangement, and the immobilized nucleic acids are also liable to be digested in a complex matrix, inducing limited sensitivity and anti-interference.

Background: The rapid and sensitive detection of nitrite is important to human health protection due to its carcinogenic and teratogenic risks with excessive intake. The Griess assay is widely applied for the design of nitrite detection system. However, its relatively slow reaction kinetics and sole colorimetry mode might limit it's the sensitivity and practical application.
