Published: December 2010

The perturbation method is combined with the Rigorous CoupledWave Analysis (RCWA) to enhance its computational speed. In the original RCWA, a grating is approximated by a stack of lamellar gratings and the number of eigenvalue systems to be solved is equal to the number of subgratings. The perturbation method allows to derive the eigensolutions in many layers from the computed eigensolutions of a reference layer provided that the optical and geometrical parameters of these layers differ only slightly. A trapezoidal grating is considered to evaluate the performance of the method.

Applying aperture-based intensity map in automated plan review of volumetric modulated arc therapy for lung cancer patients.

Quant Imaging Med Surg

January 2025

Department of Radiation Oncology, National Cancer Center/National Clinical Research Center for Cancer/Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China.

Background: Volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) is a popular radiotherapy technique in the clinic. As consisting of hundreds of control points in a VMAT plan it is more complex and time consuming than those conventional treatment modalities, such as intensity modulated radiation therapy. To improve the efficiency and accuracy of its quality assurance procedure, a novel automated anomaly detection method was proposed.

Background And Objective: Mitochondria are crucial to the function of renal tubular cells, and their dynamic perturbation in many aspects is an important mechanism of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Single-nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq) technology is a high-throughput sequencing analysis technique for RNA at the level of a single cell nucleus. Here, our DKD mouse kidney single-cell RNA sequencing conveys a more comprehensive mitochondrial profile, which helps us further understand the therapeutic response of this unique organelle family to drugs.

A graph neural network approach for hierarchical mapping of breast cancer protein communities.

BMC Bioinformatics

January 2025

Department of Applied Computer Science, University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2E9, Canada.

Background: Comprehensively mapping the hierarchical structure of breast cancer protein communities and identifying potential biomarkers from them is a promising way for breast cancer research. Existing approaches are subjective and fail to take information from protein sequences into consideration. Deep learning can automatically learn features from protein sequences and protein-protein interactions for hierarchical clustering.

A lanthanide ion-based metal-organic framework (Eu-TATAB nanorods) was designed and synthesized as an effective tri-mode nanoprobe for sensitive and portable detection of ethanol content in a water-ethanol mixture. The assay was based on the responsive properties of Eu-TATAB nanorods to ethanol stimulus and their adaptive encapsulation capability towards optically active lanthanides. With the addition of ethanol to the Eu-TATAB nanorods, the structure was destroyed, resulting in a decrease in luminescence, electrochemiluminescence, and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometric signals by perturbing energy transfer in the Eu-TATAB nanorods.

The linear scaling divide-expand-consolidate (DEC) framework is expanded to include unrestricted Hartree-Fock references. By partitioning the orbital space and employing local molecular orbitals, the full molecular calculation can be performed as independent calculations on individual fragments, making the method well-suited for massively parallel implementations. This approach also incorporates error control through the fragment optimization threshold (FOT), which maintains precision and consistency throughout the calculations.
