We derive a general form of Airy wave function which satisfies paraxial equation of diffraction. Based on this, we propose a new form of Airy beam, which is composed of two symmetrical Airy beams which accelerate mutually in the opposite directions. This 'dual' Airy beam shows several distinguishing features: it has a symmetric transverse intensity pattern and improved self-regeneration property. In addition, we can easily control the propagation direction. We also propose 'quad' Airy beam, which forms a rectangular shaped optical array of narrow beams that travel along a straight line. We can control its propagation direction without changing transverse intensity patterns. These kinds of superposed optical beams are expected to be useful for various applications with their unique properties.

It is commonly assumed that nonlinear frequency conversion requires lasers with high coherence; however, this assumption has constrained our broader understanding of coherence and overlooked the potential role of incoherence in nonlinear interactions. In this work, we study the synthesis of optical spatial coherence in second harmonic generation using quadratic nonlinear photonic crystals. We demonstrate a method where the second harmonic coherence is customized by employing quantitative phase retrieval and a complex square-root filter sequentially on fundamental frequency speckles.

Multi-object imaging can obtain more comprehensive information to analyze the surrounding environment better and is widely used in many fields. While most multi-object imaging methods require objects not to be coaxial, which must ensure that each object is within the line-of-sight (LOS) of beam progression. In this paper, we present an approach for imaging multiple coaxial objects utilizing an Airy beam array, which can see hidden objects and is conducive to expanding the range of information perception.

In this paper, the focusing characteristics of a circular Airyprime Gaussian beam (CAPGB) propagating in a gradient refractive index (GRIN) medium is studied for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, and some interesting features are observed. We find that the CAPGB exhibits periodic focus-defocus behavior and completes a period propagation process with two focal points within a half variation period /2 of the GRIN medium. Meanwhile, the CAPGB has singularity at the positions of =(2+1)/4 on the optical axis.

The transmission dynamics of a circular Airy beam (CAB) with quadratic phase modulation (QPM) and cross-phase modulation (XPM) in the cubic-quintic nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equation (FSE) optical system is investigated. In the linear case, the energy distribution of the beam is affected by XPM and the focusing position of the beam is influenced by QPM. CAB undergoes splitting and its intensity is shifted as the absolute value of the XPM coefficient (||) increases.
