We studied the expression of isoforms of stem cells factor mRNA forming as a result of alternative splicing. Both isoforms of stem cell factor mRNA forming as a result of alternative splicing were found in different fetal tissues. Changes in the expression of alternative isoforms of stem cell factor in peripheral blood mononuclear cells were demonstrated from the prenatal and neonatal periods to adult organism.

RAF protein kinases are major RAS effectors that function by phosphorylating MEK. Although all three RAF isoforms share a conserved RAS binding domain and bind to GTP-loaded RAS, only ARAF uniquely enhances RAS activity. Here we uncovered the molecular basis of ARAF in regulating RAS activation.

Ankyloblepharon-Ectodermal Defects-Cleft Lip/Palate (AEC) syndrome is a rare genetic disorder caused by mutations in the TP63 gene, which encodes a transcription factor essential for epidermal gene expression. A key feature of AEC syndrome is chronic skin erosion, for which no effective treatment currently exists. Our previous studies demonstrated that mutations associated with AEC syndrome lead to p63 protein misfolding and aggregation, exerting a dominant-negative effect.

The nucleocapsid (N) protein is the most expressed protein in later stages of SARS-CoV-2 infection with several important functions. It is translated from a subgenomic mRNA (sgmRNA) formed by template switching during transcription. A recently described translation initiation site (TIS) with a CTG codon in the leader sequence (TIS-L) is out of frame with most structural and accessory genes including the N gene and may act as a translation suppressor.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is characterized by lipid accumulation in the liver due to an excess in their supplies or an impairment in their management. While some patients remain stable for years, a proportion of them progress up to steatohepatitis (MASH). MASLD links with systemic pathways being associated with metabolic and non-metabolic diseases.

Adipose is a complex tissue comprised of adipocytes, immune cells, endothelial and progenitor stem cells. In humans, there are at least nine defined adipose depots, each containing variable numbers of genetically identified adipocyte clusters suggesting remarkable heterogeneity and potential functionality in each depot with respect to lipid metabolism. Although subcutaneous and visceral depots are commonly analyzed for biochemical and molecular functions, the mesenteric depot has been overlooked yet strongly implicated in lipid mediated immune surveillance.
