The aim of this investigation was to minimize the experimental effort for solvent system selection in counter-current chromatography. The separation mechanism in counter-current chromatography is based exclusively on the partitioning of the solute between the two liquid phases. Therefore, a quantum chemical method combined with statistical thermodynamics (conductor-like screening model for real solvents, COSMO-RS) was used for the prediction of the partition coefficient. A comparison of the experimental and predicted data for five model solutes systems demonstrated the potential of the use of COSMO-RS as a screening tool for the solvent system selection.

In an effort to improve safety and cycling stability of liquid electrolytes, the use of dicarbonates has been explored. In this study, four dicarbonate structures with varying end groups and spacers are investigated. The effect of these structural differences on the physical and ion transport properties is elucidated, showing that the end group has a significant influence on ion transport.

Triazole, a nitrogen-containing five-membered heterocycle with two isomeric forms, 1,2,3-triazole and 1,2,4-triazole, has proven to be a valuable component in the pharmaceutical domain. Owing to its widespread utility in drug development, pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry, several synthetic methods have been explored, such as different catalytic systems, solvents, and heating methodologies in recent years. However, some methods were associated with several limitations, such as harsh reaction conditions, high temperatures, low atom economy, and long reaction times.

Photothermal conversion can promote plastic depolymerization (chemical recycling to a monomer) through light-to-heat conversion. The highly localized temperature gradient near the photothermal agent surface allows selective heating with spatial control not observed with bulk pyrolysis. However, identifying and incorporating practical photothermal agents into plastics for end-of-life depolymerization have not been realized.

The development of stable, high-performance electrolytes is essential to addressing the safety concerns and limited lifespan caused by the thermal and chemical instability of traditional organic carbonate-based electrolytes in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). This study examined the potential of mixed solvent systems, specifically ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC) and tetramethylene sulfone (TMS), to modify ion solvation and improve ionic conductivity in LIB electrolytes. Through molecular dynamics simulations, we investigated the solvation structure and transport properties of lithium ions (Li) in these solvent environments.

The present study describes the use of the di--butyl dicarbonate (BocO)/4-(,-dimethylamino)pyridine (DMAP) system for the amidation of carboxylic acids under neat conditions without heating. A set of carboxylic acids was explored, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), fatty acids and protected prolines in the presence of aromatic, benzylic and aliphatic amines as nucleophilic partners. The scope of this easy approach was extended to the preparation of thirty-two diverse carboxylic amides, which were recovered with isolated yields varying from moderate to excellent.
