Background: Periphpral ulcerative keratitis (PUK) is a disorder consisting of a crescent-shaped destructive inflammation of the perilimbal corneal stroma.
Case: We present a case of PUK following acute bacterial conjunctivitis in a 60-year-old lady with a history of on-and-off joint pain for two years. After admission to the hospital, she underwent conjunctival resection and was given topical and oral steroids. She was prescribed hydroxychloroquine after confirming the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis with a positive RA factor.
Conclusion: This report highlights the role of infection as a triggeringagent in the induction of PUK in an otherwise quiescent cornea.

Purpose: To evaluate clinical and treatment outcomes in patients with peripheral ulcerative keratitis (PUK).
Design: Retrospective, case series SUBJECTS: Patients diagnosed with PUK at the Wilmer Eye Institute between January 2003 and October 2022.

Corneal ulcer is one of the most important ophthalmic emergencies. A portable, recordable, and smartphone-attachable slit-lamp device called the "Smart Eye Camera" (SEC) is introduced to compare evaluating corneal ulcers between the SEC and the conventional slit-lamp. The co-occurrence of inflammatory eye disease and hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is uncommon; ocular involvement typically manifests as anterior uveitis. In this report, we present a unique case of peripheral ulcerative keratitis (PUK) where both infectious and rheumatological workup was negative, leading us to consider the possibility of an association between this condition and severe HS. As far as we are aware, there have only been six documented cases of PUK associated with HS.
