Purpose: A prospective, randomized-controlled trail was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of securing tunneled hemodialysis (HD) catheters with sutureless StatLock attachment devices (Bard Access Systems) compared to traditional suture fixation.
Methods: At a university teaching hospital 72 patients with chronic renal failure received cuffed tunneled HD catheters. In the study group (n=36) the HD catheters were secured with a sutureless StatLock attachment device, whereas the control group HD catheters were fixated with sutures only. The intended intermediate use of the tunneled HD catheters was 42 ± 7 days until the arteriovenous fistula was sufficient. All catheters were placed by an interventional radiologist using ultrasound for the puncture of the internal jugular vein. We evaluated the success and complication rate of tunneled catheter implantation.
Results: The primary success rate for implantation of HD catheters was 100%. There was an overall complication rate of 8.3% in the study group (one hematoma in the subcutaneous catheter tract and two central venous thromboses). In the control group the overall complication rate was 13.9% (two hematomas, one central venous thrombosis and two catheter displacements). The two catheter displacements required a HD catheter exchange. In addition, four local irritations at the HD catheter entry site were seen only in the control group and were rated as minor complications.
Conclusions: The sutureless placement technique is safe and effective with a low complication rate, and is superior to the traditional suture fixation of tunneled catheters.

Objective: Awake, endoscopic spinal fusion has been utilized as an ultra-minimally invasive surgery technique to accomplish the goals of spinal fixation, fusion, and disc height restoration. While many techniques exist for this approach, this series represents a single institution's experience with a large cohort and the evolution of this method.
Methods: The medical records of a consecutive series of 400 patients treated over a 10-year period were retrospectively reviewed.

Objective: Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates. In particular, functional outcomes of SAH caused by large or giant (≥ 10 mm) ruptured intracranial aneurysms are worsened by high procedure-related complication rates. However, studies describing the risk factors for poor functional outcomes specific to ruptured large/giant aneurysms are sparse.

Introduction: Short stature is a frequent complication of DMD, and its pathomechanisms and influencing factors are specific to this disease and the idiosyncratic treatment for DMD.
Purpose: To establish the height growth curve of early DMD, and evaluate the potential influencing markers on height growth, provide further evidence for pathological mechanism, height growth management and bone health in DMD.
Methods: A retrospective, cross-sectional study of 348 participants with DMD aged 2-12 years was conducted at West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University from January 2023 to October 2023.

Rationale: Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) bloodstream infections are a severe complication resulting from granulocyte deficiency following chemotherapy for hematologic malignancies and have a high mortality rate. However, reports of disseminated organ infections secondary to bloodstream infections are rare.
Patient Concerns And Diagnoses: We report 2 cases of patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who both developed CRKP bloodstream infections during the granulocyte deficiency stage following chemotherapy, with 1 case of secondary bacterial liver abscess and 1 case of secondary septic arthritis.
