In this paper, we have used the finite element micromagnetism theory to simulate the magnetization (M) reversal behaviors of cobalt nanotubes with different lengths (L = 400, 600, 800 and 1000 nm). The inner radius and outer radius of nanotubes are 50 nm and 100 nm respectively. The simulation results show that all the nanotubes exhibit significantly anisotropic behaviors: the easy magnetization axis is along the longitudinal direction. The coercivity values are found dependent on the dimensions of Co nanotubes. For the nanotube with a length of 400 nm, M reversal processes along the Z axis starts from the inner wall and propagates from the inside toward the outside. However, for other nanotubes, M reversal processes start from both ends of nanotubes. When the magnetic field (H) is applied along the hard axis, magnetic moments gradually change their directions into the opposite directions. The variations of the total Gibbs free energy have been calculated to support the observed differences in reversal processes.

Cerebral Global Ischemia (CGI) is a devastating neurological condition affecting millions globally each year, leading to significant inflammatory responses and long-term consequences, including delayed neuronal death and neurocognitive impairment. Following brain injury, resident microglial cells are activated, triggering pro-inflammatory cytokine expression and altering neuroimmune processes in a sex-dependent manner, particularly within the hippocampus. Coumestrol, a plant estrogen, is promoted as an alternative to post-menopausal hormone therapy due to its various mechanisms that enhance brain health, including its anti-inflammatory effects.

The behavior of triple-cation mixed halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) under ultrashort laser pulse irradiation at varying fluences is investigated, with a focus on local heating effects observed in femtosecond transient absorption (TA) studies. The carrier cooling time constant is found to increase from 230 fs at 2 µJ cm⁻ to 1.3 ps at 2 mJ cm⁻ while the charge population decay accelerates from tens of nanoseconds to the picosecond range within the same fluence range.

Concentrations of pollutants like pharmaceuticals in soils typically decrease over time, though it often remains unclear whether this dissipation is caused by the transformation of the pollutant or a decreasing extractability. We developed a mathematical model that (1) explores the plausibility of different dissipation pathways, and (2) allows the quantification of concentration differences between aqueous soil extracts and soil solution. The model considers soil particles as uniform spheres, kinetic sorption towards an equilibrium (Freundlich model), and two dissipation pathways, irreversible transformation and mineralization (following 1 order kinetics) as well as the formation of non-extractable residues intraparticle diffusion.

Paddlewheel-type diruthenium(II,II) complexes are paramagnetic with two unpaired electrons ( = 1) and can be utilized as versatile building blocks for higher-order structures, such as supramolecular complexes, coordination polymers, and metal-organic frameworks, although they are generally highly air-sensitive. In this study, we developed an air-stable paddlewheel-type diruthenium(II,II) complex with two electron-withdrawing 1,8-naphthyridine-2-carboxylate (npc) ligands, [Ru(μ-npc)(OCMe)] (1). The two acetate ligands in 1 can be replaced by other carboxylate ligands; the solvothermal reactions of 1 with benzoic acid (HOCPh) yields the heteroleptic [Ru(μ-npc)(OCPh)] (2), whereas its reaction with 1,8-naphthyridine-2-carboxylic acid (Hnpc) produces the homoleptic [Ru(μ-npc)(η-npc)] (3).

The occurrence of external L-glutamate at the Arabidopsis root tip triggers major changes in root architecture, but the mechanism of -L-Glu sensing is unknown. Members of the family of GLUTAMATE RECEPTOR-LIKE (GLR) proteins are known to act as amino acid-gated Ca-permeable channels and to have signalling roles in diverse plant processes. To investigate the possible role of GLRs in the root architectural response to L-Glu, we screened a collection of mutants with T-DNA insertions in each of the 20 AtGLR genes.
