There is a need for effective stroke rehabilitation systems that can be used in undersupervised/unsupervised environments such as the home to assist in improving and/or sustaining functional outcomes. We determined the stability, accuracy and usability of an extremely low-cost mobile robot for use with a robot/computer motivating rehabilitation device, TheraDrive. The robot provided cues to discourage excessive trunk movements and to encourage arm movements. The mobile robot system was positively received by potential users, and it was accurate and stable over time. Feedback from users suggests that finding the optimal frequency and type of encouragement and corrective feedback given by the robot helper will be critical for long-term acceptance.

Unlike the conventional, embodied, and embrained whole-body movements in the sagittal forward and vertical axes, movements in the lateral/transversal axis cannot be unequivocally grounded, embodied, or embrained. When considering motor imagery for left and right directions, it is assumed that participants have underdeveloped representations due to a lack of familiarity with moving along the lateral axis. In the current study, a 32 electroencephalography (EEG) system was used to identify the oscillatory neural signature linked with lateral axis motor imagery.

Objective: To identify the prevalence and factors associated with T-score discordance between the spine and hip, as well as between the paretic and non-paretic hips in hemiplegic stroke patients, this study investigated bone mineral density (BMD) patterns. Bone loss predominantly affects the paretic hip after a stroke, and typical clinical assessments using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) that scan the lumbar spine (LS) and a single hip may overlook an osteoporosis diagnosis. This oversight could potentially lead to suboptimal treatment for stroke patients.
