A novel π-complexation adsorbent is fabricated by grafting Cu(I)-containing molecule precursors onto β-cyclodextrin. The adsorbent provides a molecular-level dispersion of Cu(I), which is particularly beneficial to the adsorptive removal of aromatic sulfur thiophene, and is impossible to be realized through the conventional thermal method.

Leather manufacturing is the process of converting raw animal hides or skins into finished leather. The complex industrial procedures result in a tanning effluent composed of chemical compounds with potentially hazardous impacts on humans and ecosystems. Among the traditional and efficient wastewater treatments, adsorption is an effective and well-known approach, able to manage a wide range of contaminants from wastewater.

Herein, we first report a photocatalytic OCM using CO2 as a soft oxidant for C2H6 production under mild conditions, where an efficient photocatalyst with unique interface sites is constructed to facilitate CO2 adsorption and activation, while concurrently boosting CH4 dissociation. As a prototype, the Au quantum dots anchored on oxygen-deficient TiO2 nanosheets are fabricated, where the Au-Vo-Ti interface sites for CO2 adsorption and activation are collectively disclosed by in situ Kelvin probe force microscopy, quasi in situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and theoretical calculations. Compared with single metal site, the Au-Vo-Ti interface sites exhibit the lower CO2 adsorption energy and decrease the energy barrier of the *CO2 hydrogenation step from 1.

This study aims to modify raw zeolite with metal oxide nanocomposites to remove nickel (Ni) ions from synthetic wastewater. Novel zeolite-doped magnesium oxide (MgO), iron oxide (FeO), and zinc oxide (ZnO) nanocomposites were synthesized by hydrothermal-calcination methods. The novel zeolite-doped metal oxide nanocomposites were used as adsorbents to remove Ni (II) ions from synthetic wastewater.

In this research, 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (MPS) silane agent was applied to modify the extracted wheat straw (WS) cellulose as a natural biopolymer. Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) was attached to the MPS-modified WS (MPS-WS) via in-situ polymerization to form PAN-WS biocomposite. AO-WS amidoximated biocomposite adsorbent was synthesized through amidoxime reaction and the effects of different parameters including agitation speed, metal ion concentration, and adsorbent dosage on its efficiency of Pb(II) removal were investigated using the Taguchi experimental design method.
