Efficient access to pyranoisoquinoline derivatives via rhodium-catalyzed double C-H functionalization of phenyl oxadiazoles and diazo compounds has been developed. Two C-C bonds and one C-O and C-N bond formation was realized by this tandem reaction, along with the formation of two heterocycles, affording diversified pyran-fused isoquinolines in moderate to good yields with broad functional group tolerance under mild reaction conditions.

-Butyl hypochlorite was employed as a versatile reagent for chlorooxidation of indoles, chlorination of 2-oxindoles, and decarboxylative chlorination of the indole-2-carboxylic acids. Four types of products including 2-chloro-3-oxindoles, 2,2-dichloro-3-oxindoles, 3,3-dichloro-2-oxindoles, and 2,3-dichloroindoles could be selectively obtained in moderate to excellent yields by switching the substrates. Various synthetically useful functional groups, such as halogen atoms, cyano, nitro, and methoxycarbonyl groups, remain intact during the reactions.

Hydrogenation of levulinic acid (LA) represents a significant approach for producing the high-value biomass-based platform compound γ-valerolactone (GVL). In this study, an efficient RuIr alloy bimetallic catalyst supported on SiC was synthesized and applied for the aqueous hydrogenation of LA into GVL under mild conditions. The RuIr/SiC catalyst exhibited high LA conversion and GVL selectivity (both > 99%) in water at 0.

This paper presents the solar-driven electrocarboxylation of 2-bromopyridine (2-BP) with CO into high-value-added chemicals 2-picolinic acid (2-PA) using dye-sensitized photovoltaics under simulated sunlight. Using three series-connected photovoltaic modules and an Ag electrode with excellent catalytic performance, a Faraday efficiency () of 33.3% is obtained for 2-PA under mild conditions.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide despite significant improvements in diagnostic modalities. Emerging evidence suggests that erythrocytes, or red blood cells (RBCs), are one of the most important contributors to the events implicated in atherosclerosis, although the molecular mechanisms behind it are under investigation. We used NMR-based lipidomic technology to investigate the RBC lipidome in patients with CHD compared to those with normal coronary arteries (NCAs), all angiographically documented, and its correlation with coronary artery stenosis.
