Subsidence over old coal mine workings can not be avoided if the underground workings are not fully filled. Existence of fire, illegal mining operation and seasonal impact (rainfall) aggravate proneness of subsidence over old workings. This paper deals with the causative factors of subsidence over old workings and its relation with rainfall with reference to Jharia and Raniganj Coalfields, India during the year 2007. The impact of subsidence has also been dealt in this paper.

Traditional rainfall data collection mainly relies on rain buckets and meteorological data. It rarely considers the impact of sensor faults on measurement accuracy. To solve this problem, a two-layer genetic algorithm-backpropagation (GA-BP) model is proposed.

The lightning assimilation (LTA) technique in the Kain-Fritsch convective parameterization in the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model has been updated and applied to continental and hemispheric simulations using lightning flash data obtained from the National Lightning Detection Network (NLDN) and the World Wide Lightning Location Network (WWLLN), respectively. The LTA technique uses lightning data to trigger the Kain-Fritsch convective parameterization via realistic temperature and moisture perturbations. The impact of different values for cumulus parameters associated with the Kain-Fritsch scheme on simulations with and without LTA were evaluated for both the continental and the hemispheric simulations.

The lesser spiny eel, Macrognathus aculeatus (Bloch, 1786), holds substantial economic importance as a food fish in South Asia, due to its exceptional nutritional value. This study was conducted to investigate the reproductive ecology of M. aculeatus within the Gajner beel wetland ecosystem in northwestern Bangladesh, with a specific focus on size at sexual maturity, spawning season, and fecundity in relation to eco-climatic variables.

Climate change has become an emerging topic, leading to widespread damage. However, when considering climate, attention is drawn to various scales, and urban microclimate has emerged as a trending subject due to its direct relevance to human living environments. Among the microclimatic factors, temperature and precipitation are utilized in order to identify trends.

Background: The adverse health impacts of ambient temperature have been well-documented, encompassing not only the mortality and morbidity burden but also mood and mental health disorders. However, the relationship between temperature and social isolation remains unexplored. The objective of the current study was to investigate the potential associations between ambient temperature and social isolation among the aging population.
