A case of duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) treated by wedge resection in a patient with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is reported. A 55-year-old man with a history of NF-1 was admitted for surgery for a duodenal tumor. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a 2.5 cm duodenal submucosal tumor. Abdominal computed tomography showed a homogenously enhanced mass in the third portion of the duodenum. The patient successfully underwent wedge resection of the duodenal tumor. Histological examination revealed proliferation of spindle tumor cells arranged in a bundle pattern. This tumor was immunohistochemically positive for c-Kit and CD34, and negative for S-100 and α-SMA. A mitotic count showed 3 mitoses per 50 high-power fields. The tumor was diagnosed as a low-risk GIST. The patient's postoperative course was uneventful. GIST in a patient with NF-1 is rare, only 27 cases being reported in the Japanese literature.

Introduction: Children and young adults diagnosed with sarcoma often present with pulmonary metastases requiring wedge resection. It is important to balance the risk of pulmonary recurrence against the desire to limit resection of benign parenchyma. This study aims to determine the impact of resection margins on survival and recurrence among pediatric and young adult sarcoma patients.

Gestational trophoblastic neoplasms are tumors that occur during pregnancy, while non-gestational trophoblastic tumors have a similar histology but are present outside of gestation. Literature reports several cases of non-gestational trophoblastic tumors of primary pulmonary origin, which pose diagnostic challenges and are associated with a poor prognosis. This report details a case of somatic high-grade carcinoma with trophoblastic differentiation primarily manifesting in the left lung with recurrent pneumothoraces.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the utility of preoperative 18F-FDG PET/CT scanning in preoperative evaluation and surgical planning for pulmonary tuberculosis.
Methods: The study involved a retrospective analysis of clinical data and preoperative chest 18F-FDG PET/CT data of 24 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis who underwent pneumonectomy at the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center between December 2017 and January 2022.
Results: All 24 patients successfully underwent chest 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging, and complete data pertaining to the maximum standardized uptake value, mean standardized uptake value, minimum standardized uptake value, total lesion glycolysis, and metabolic tumor volume were obtained.

Background: Pathologic confirmation of lung cancer influences treatment selection for suspected early-stage lung cancer. High pre-treatment tissue confirmation rates are recommended. We sought to define management and outcomes of patients undergoing surgery for primary lung cancer in a UK multi-centre clinical trial.
