In laboratory tests with carriers (glass, slab, blanket) at a high rel. humidity (95%) the survival was distinctly reduced by S. aureus at 37 degrees C and by Ps. aeruginosa at 21 degrees C and 37 degrees C. Against this after 24 h storing of contaminated carriers (glass) the resistance to disinfectants was higher at 95% rel. humidity as at 35% rel. humidity.

The stable isotope composition of meteoric water has been widely used to understand hydrological processes worldwide. We present a unique dataset, with the isotopic composition (δO and δH) of meteoric waters, derived from a nationwide study in Cuba. It includes monthly composite and event-based precipitations, from January 2017 to December 2021 (N = 526 and N = 111 respectively).

In this study, we developed a gas sensing platform that can sensitively and specifically detect trace HS in a high-humidity atmosphere at RT. Upon integrating a carbon nitride (CN) nanofilm and molybdenum dioxide (MoO) nanosheets onto nanojungle-like TiO nanotube arrays (TiNTs), the fabricated chemiresistor showed rapid response (38 s)/recovery (58 s) abilities and remarkable detection sensitivity for HS at concentrations down to 2 ppb, with an estimated detection limit of 1.13 ppb at RT and room-environmental light (REL).

COVID-19 pandemic lesson learned- critical parameters and research needs for UVC inactivation of viral aerosols.

J Hazard Mater Adv

November 2022

Sustainable Water Innovation and Research Laboratory, Chemical and Biological Engineering Department, University of British Columbia, Canada.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted public awareness of airborne disease transmission in indoor settings and emphasized the need for reliable air disinfection technologies. This increased awareness will carry in the post-pandemic era along with the ever-emerging SARS-CoV variants, necessitating effective and well-defined protocols, methods, and devices for air disinfection. Ultraviolet (UV)-based air disinfection demonstrated promising results in inactivating viral bioaerosols.

High-Risk Environmental Conditions Attenuates Performance Efficiency Index in NCAA DI Female Soccer Players.

Int J Exerc Sci

March 2022

Institute of Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation Science, School of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy, University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL, USA.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of environmental conditions on running performance and performance efficiency index (Effindex). Performance data recorded using Polar Team Pro sensors from eight collegiate female soccer players in nine matches were analyzed during the 2019 competitive season. Effindex and running performance, including total distance covered (TD) and distance covered in five speed thresholds relative to minutes played, were examined for indications of fatigue with respect to environmental conditions, including ambient temperature and relative humidity.
