Codon usage bias (CUB) refers to the different frequencies with which various codons are utilized within a genome. Examining CUB is essential for understanding genome structure, function, and evolution. However, little was known about codon usage patterns and the factors influencing the nuclear genomes of eight ecologically significant Sapindaceae species widely utilized for food and medicine.

Objectives: To investigate the influence of frequency-specific audibility on audiovisual benefit in children, this study examined the impact of high- and low-pass acoustic filtering on auditory-only and audiovisual word and sentence recognition in children with typical hearing. Previous studies show that visual speech provides greater access to consonant place of articulation than other consonant features and that low-pass filtering has a strong impact on perception on acoustic consonant place of articulation. This suggests visual speech may be particularly useful when acoustic speech is low-pass filtered because it provides complementary information about consonant place of articulation.

High dielectric constants with less dielectric loss composites is highly demandable for technological advancements across various fields, including energy storage, sensing, and telecommunications. Their significance lies in their ability to enhance the performance and efficiency of a wide range of devices and systems. In this work, the dielectric performance of graphene oxide (GO) reinforced plasticized starch (PS) nanocomposites (PS/GO) for different concentrations of GO nanofiller was studied.

In this article, we discuss an unusual pattern in long-crack behavior at low stress intensity factor ranges ΔK (below ΔK), characterized by an initial dip, followed by a plateau, and then an acceleration in fatigue crack growth (FCG) rate. This unanticipated FCG behavior was first observed experimentally in the IMI 834 alloy and reported by Marci in 1996. Such an anomaly is only reported from experimental observation but cannot be understood or explained using the plasticity, roughness, or oxide-induced crack closure assumptions.

As pathogens spread in a population of hosts, immunity is built up, and the pool of susceptible individuals are depleted. This generates selective pressure, to which many human RNA viruses, such as influenza virus or SARS-CoV-2, respond with rapid antigenic evolution and frequent emergence of immune evasive variants. However, the host's immune systems adapt, and older immune responses wane, such that escape variants only enjoy a growth advantage for a limited time.
