Starting from both the bridging nitrogen atom-functionalized and the upper rim-functionalized N,O-bridged calix[1]arene[4]pyridine reactants, different types of heteracalixaromatics-C(60) dyads and triads of varied spacers were expediently synthesized using mainly the click reaction as the key step. By means of various spectroscopic methods, the heteracalixaromatics-C(60) dyads and triads obtained have been shown to form intramolecular self-inclusion complexes rather than oligomers or polymers in solution because of a flexible spacer in between the heteracalixaromatic ring and C(60) moiety. The current study, coupled with previous investigations, would provide the guideline for the construction of supramolecular fullerene motifs based on molecular design of the dyads and triads.

We investigated maternal and parent-of-origin (PoO) gene-environment interaction effects on the risk of nonsyndromic orofacial clefts for two maternal environmental factors: periconceptional smoking and folic acid supplementation. Genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) genotypes and TopMed-imputed genotypes were obtained for case-parent triads from the EUROCRAN and ITALCLEFT studies. Candidate regions were selected around target SNPs from a previous genome-wide association study, resulting in 12 (726 SNPs) and 11 regions (730 SNPs) for maternal and PoO effects, respectively.

(1) Background: This study was conducted in the small island developing state of Barbados, which has dubiously earned the title of "amputation capital of the world", to understand perspectives of persons living with diabetic foot ulceration. (2) Methods: An exploratory multi-lens approach was used (focus groups; dyads; and triads) to gather indigenous Afro-Caribbean perspectives of living with diabetic foot ulceration that may be obscured by using a single method. (3) Results: Findings in this group highlighted the necessity of creating culturally sensitive education tools, as well as understanding how mistrust of local health systems may play a role in decisions to delay seeking health services despite ease of access with no cost at point of care.

Group parenting programs, including emotion-focused programs, are effective at improving children's emotional and behavioral adjustment; however, the impact of these programs may be limited due to parents, typically mothers, attending sessions alone. It is expected that actively involving both caregivers in parenting programs will lead to superior outcomes given family systems are interconnected and when parents feel more supported by one another, they are more likely to have greater emotional availability for their children. Tuning in to Kids Together (TIK-Together) was developed to involve both caregivers and address the coparenting relationship.

Purpose: To explore the lived experiences and perspectives of 3 generations of African American women regarding breastfeeding within their historical and cultural contexts, and to identify factors influencing their breastfeeding decisions and practices.
Background: African American communities have a rich cultural heritage that includes infant nurturing. However, breastfeeding rates among African American mothers are comparatively low due to various societal factors, despite well-established health benefits.

In this study, we report the design and development of a stable fluorescent probe that is selectively localized in the cytosol of Hela cells. We designed two probes, 1 and 2, with D-π-A (carbazole (Cbz)-vinyl-naphthalimide (NPI)) and A-π-D-π-A (NPI-vinyl-Cbz-vinyl-NPI) architecture, respectively. Probes 1 and 2 exhibit broad photoluminescence (PL) spectra ranging from green (550 nm) to far-red (800 nm) in solutions and aggregated states.
