Objective: It is important to cover energy targets among patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) to minimize weight and skeletal muscles loss. This study aimed to assess the agreement between indirect calorimetry (IC) and predictive equations for determining resting energy expenditures (REE) in HNC patients receiving home enteral nutrition (HEN).
Research Methods And Procedures: Patients included in the study had to be diagnosed with HNC, be adults, have artificial access to the digestive tract, and participate in HEN.

Background & Aims: Enteral formulas containing predigested lipids to support the needs of patients with fat maldigestion are currently unavailable. Monoacylglycerol (MAG)-rich oils offer potential benefits for fat absorption without prior digestion, but their safety and tolerability in enteral formulas need evaluation. We assessed the safety and tolerability of a new formula containing predigested lipids in the form of MAG-rich oil.

Background: Malnutrition is a critical clinical condition that requires early intervention due to its potential for causing preventable fatalities and complications. This study aims to assess the impact of outpatient enteral nutrition support (ENS) as a therapeutic intervention on anthropometric measurements, intolerance, and micronutrient values in malnourished children.
Methods: This observational study included 344 patients in ages 1 to 18 treated with standard enteral nutrition (1.

There is growing interest in the potential exploitation of the gut microbiome as a diagnostic tool in medicine, but evidence supporting its clinical usefulness is scarce. An increasing number of commercial providers offer direct-to-consumer microbiome diagnostic tests without any consensus on their regulation or any proven value in clinical practice, which could result in considerable waste of individual and health-care resources and potential drawbacks in the clinical management of patients. We convened an international multidisciplinary expert panel to standardise best practices of microbiome testing for clinical implementation, including recommendations on general principles and minimum requirements for their provision, indications, pre-testing protocols, method of analyses, reporting of results, and potential clinical value.

Background: High output enterostomy leads to malnutrition and fluid/electrolyte loss which may be challenging to manage despite dietary modification, anti-motility, anti-secretory drugs, and parenteral nutrition. Distal infusion stomal enteroclysis (DISE) is an alternative to restore nutritional deficit and replace parenteral nutrition in resource-limited settings where treatment cost and availability of trained nurses are limiting factors.
Objective: To assess the effectiveness and feasibility of DISE in managing postoperative enterostomal output.
