- The German Lipoprotein Apheresis Registry (GLAR) began in 2012 and collected data from 2,301 patients undergoing lipoprotein apheresis (LA) for high cholesterol and lipoprotein(a) levels over 11 years.
- The data showed significant reductions in LDL-C (68.8%) and Lp(a) (72.9%) immediately after LA treatment, with substantial decreases in major coronary events (MACE) over the treatment period, particularly an 85% reduction in patients with high Lp(a) levels.
- Adverse events related to LA were low (around 5%) mainly involving minor issues like puncture problems, with no severe side effects leading to treatment termination.

The establishment of fibroblast lines enables several applications from the formation of biobanks for the conservation of biodiversity to the use of these cells in physiological and toxicological assays. Considered a species vulnerable to extinction, the characterization of fibroblastic lines of northern tiger cat would contribute to its conservation. Therefore, we established and characterized fibroblasts derived from northern tiger cat during extended passage (third, seventh, and eleventh passages) and cryopreservation with regard to the morphology, viability, apoptotic classification, metabolism, proliferative activity, and oxidative stress by reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm).

Background: Computer-assisted clinical coding (CAC) tools are designed to help clinical coders assign standardized codes, such as the ICD-10 (International Statistical Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision), to clinical texts, such as discharge summaries. Maintaining the integrity of these standardized codes is important both for the functioning of health systems and for ensuring data used for secondary purposes are of high quality. Clinical coding is an error-prone cumbersome task, and the complexity of modern classification systems such as the ICD-11 (International Classification of Diseases, Eleventh Revision) presents significant barriers to implementation.

The meeting followed the previous ten international symposia, the last of which was held online due to restrictions due to COVID19, in March 2021. The setting of the meeting encouraged interactions, exchange of ideas, and networking opportunities among the participants from around the globe, including basic and clinical scientists, clinicians, and especially patients, their relatives and caregivers.
