This review was written to be included in the Special Collection 'Therapy Ultrasound: Medicine's Swiss Army Knife?' The purpose of this review is to provide basic presentation and interpretation of the fundamentals of hyperthermia biology, as it pertains to uses of therapeutic ultrasound. The fundamentals are presented but in the setting of a translational interpretation and a view toward the future. Subjects that require future research and development are highlighted.

Objective: To determine the incidence of clinical and subclinical venous thromboembolic events (VTE) in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) treated with high-dose thromboprophylaxis during definitive chemoradiation and brachytherapy.
Methods: A prospective observational study was undertaken from August 2021 to December 2023 in patients with primary LACC treated with definitive chemoradiation in two Dutch tertiary hospitals. Patients received high-dose thromboprophylaxis during chemoradiation and brachytherapy.

Nanocomposites based on FeO and carbonaceous nanoparticles (CNPs), including carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene derivatives (graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (RGO)), such as FeO@GO, FeO@RGO, and FeO@CNT, have demonstrated considerable potential in a number of health applications, including tissue regeneration and innovative cancer treatments such as hyperthermia (HT). This is due to their ability to transport drugs and generate localized heat under the influence of an alternating magnetic field on FeO. Despite the promising potential of CNTs and graphene derivatives as drug delivery systems, their use in biological applications is hindered by challenges related to dispersion in physiological media and particle agglomeration.

Background: Thyroid nodule rupture (TNR) is a rare and severe complication after thermal ablation (TA), mostly from benign thyroid nodules (BTN).
Objective: To summarize the incidence of TNR after TA and analyze the causes and prevention strategies.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 3971 patients who underwent TA for BTN from January 2014 to March 2024.
Catatonia is one of the most severe psychiatric syndromes, and clinical symptoms and etiology are very heterogeneous. When accompanied by autonomic instability and hyperthermia it’s termed malignant catatonia, which left untreated is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. First-line treatment is high dose benzodiazepines, followed by electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), in case of non-response.
