Objective: Intramural hematoma of the small intestine is a complication of anticoagulant treatment with an estimated incidence of 1 case per 2500 anticoagulated patients per year. Patients may present with signs of small bowel obstruction or, in case of a ruptured hematoma, with upper gastrointestinal tract hemorrhage and hypovolemic shock.
Material And Methods: Case report and review of the literature.
Results: We present a case of a 73-year-old male who was referred for a protruding mass in the duodenum and subsequently developed hematemesis and melena caused by a ruptured hematoma of the duodenal wall.
Conclusions: Although intramural hematoma of the duodenum is a rare complication of anticoagulant therapy, early diagnosis with subsequent correction of coagulation parameters is of vital importance.

Ventilatory drive is modulated by a variety of neurochemical inputs that converge on spatially oriented clusters of cells within the brainstem. This regulation is required to maintain energy homeostasis and is essential to sustain life across all mammalian organisms. Therefore, the anatomical orientation of these cellular clusters during development must have a defined mechanistic basis with redundant genomic variants.

Human recombination-activating gene (RAG) deficiency can manifest with distinct clinical and immunological phenotypes. By applying a multiomics approach to a large group of -mutated patients, we aimed at characterizing the immunopathology associated with each phenotype. Although defective T and B cell development is common to all phenotypes, patients with hypomorphic variants can generate T and B cells with signatures of immune dysregulation and produce autoantibodies to a broad range of self-antigens, including type I interferons.

Performance: Spontaneous dissections of the cerebral arteries are among the leading causes of stroke in young adults. They result from hemorrhage into the outer layers of the arterial wall, which can lead to stenosis or even complete vessel occlusion. Clinical presentations vary, ranging from localized pain to cerebral ischemic complications.

Background: Variability in long-term endovascular treatment outcomes for intracranial aneurysms has prompted questions regarding the effects of these treatments on aneurysm hemodynamics. Endovascular techniques disrupt aneurysmal blood flow and shear, but their influence on intra-aneurysmal pressure remains unclear. A better understanding of aneurysm pressure effects may aid in predicting outcomes and guiding treatment decisions.

Transcription factor partners can cooperatively bind to DNA composite elements to augment gene transcription. Here, we report a novel protein-DNA binding screening pipeline, termed Spacing Preference Identification of Composite Elements (SPICE), that can systematically predict protein binding partners and DNA motif spacing preferences. Using SPICE, we successfully identified known composite elements, such as AP1-IRF composite elements (AICEs) and STAT5 tetramers, and also uncovered several novel binding partners, including JUN-IKZF1 composite elements.
