A 81-year-old woman admitted with general fatigue was found to have a giant polyp in the gastric antrum by endoscopy. The polyp prolapsed into the duodenum through the pylorus. Angiographic examination of the abdomen revealed the polyp to be about 90×35 mm in size. Laparotomy was performed. It was finally diagnosed as heterotopic Brunner's gland adenoma which had a stalk on the antrum of the stomach. Heterotopic Brunner's gland adenoma is rare. Only 3 cases including the present case have been reported in Japan.

The purpose of this study was to elucidate whether DC NK lectin group receptor-1 (DNGR-1)-dependent cross-presentation of dead-cell-associated antigens occurs after transplantation and contributes to CD8 T cell responses, chronic allograft rejection (CAR), and fibrosis. BALB/c or C57BL/6 hearts were heterotopically transplanted into WT, Clec9a , or Batf3 recipient C57BL/6 mice. Allografts were analyzed for cell infiltration, CD8 T cell activation, fibrogenesis, and CAR using immunohistochemistry, Western blot, qRT -PCR, and flow cytometry.

We describe a patient with a giant Brunner's gland hamartoma in the duodenum who was safely treated by endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR). A 64-year-old woman visited our hospital for a workup of severe anaemia (haemoglobin level: 5 g/dL). Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed a large pedunculated and elongated polypoid lesion measuring approximately 70 mm in longitudinal diameter, located at the anterior wall of the duodenal bulb.

Heterotopia of the gastrointestinal tract is a common finding. This is due to the complex embryogenesis and the relative ease to detect heterotopic tissue during endoscopy. The reason for biopsy is mostly to rule out neoplasms or to define specific causes of inflammation.

Literature on non-ampullary-duodenal carcinomas is limited. We analyzed 47 resected non-ampullary-duodenal carcinomas. Histologically, 78% were tubular-type adenocarcinomas mostly gastro-pancreatobiliary type and only 19% pure intestinal.

Background: Allograft fibrosis still remains a critical problem in transplantation, including heart transplantation. The IL-13/TGF-β1 interaction has previously been identified as a key pathway orchestrating fibrosis in different inflammatory immune disorders. Here we investigate if this pathway is also responsible for allograft fibrosis and if interference with the IL-13/TGF-β1 interaction prevents allograft fibrosis.
