Mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metaproteomics have long been used in the study of human microbiomes, with the potential of metaproteomics only recently being fully harnessed. This progress is due to the advancements of high-performance mass spectrometers, innovative proteomics strategies, and the development of dedicated bioinformatics tools. In this review, we critically examine the recent technological developments that enhance the application of metaproteomics in clinical microbiome analysis.

Scaffold-free tissue engineering strategies using cellular aggregates, microtissues, or organoids as "biological building blocks" could potentially be used for the engineering of scaled-up articular cartilage or endochondral bone-forming grafts. Such approaches require large numbers of cells; however, little is known about how different chondrogenic growth factor stimulation regimes during cellular expansion and differentiation influence the capacity of cellular aggregates or microtissues to fuse and generate hyaline cartilage. In this study, human bone marrow mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) were additionally stimulated with bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) and/or transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 during both monolayer expansion and subsequent chondrogenic differentiation in a microtissue format.

Inadequate vascularization significantly hampers wound recovery by limiting nutrient delivery. To address this challenge, we extracted membrane vesicles from (LMVs) and identified their angiogenic potential via transcriptomic analysis. We further developed a composite hydrogel system (Gel-LMVs) by anchoring LMVs within carboxylated chitosan and cross-linking it with oxidized hyaluronic acid through a Schiff base reaction.

T-cell receptor (TCR) therapies are a promising modality for the treatment of cancers, with significant efforts being directed towards acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), a particularly challenging disease. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cells targeting single surface antigens have shown remarkable efficacy for B-cell lymphoblastic leukaemia, lymphomas and multiple myeloma. However, AML presents formidable obstacles to the effectiveness of CAR T-cells due to the widespread expression of heterogenous leukaemia immunophenotypes and surface antigen targets additionally present on normal myeloid cells.

This study aimed to identify the existence of therapeutic itineraries shared by users of specialized mental health services in a medium-sized municipality. This is a cross-sectional study, carried out from August to November 2019 including 341 users of specialized mental health services in the municipality of Itatiba, São Paulo State, Brazil. To identify the itineraries, based on a set of variables, the users were grouped with clustering.
