There has been little presented in the literature regarding the use of implant bodies as retainers for removable partial dentures. However, these fixtures can be a useful asset for restorative dentists, as they can be used when there is insufficient bone for a fixed prosthesis or as retainers for a provisional appliance until additional dental treatment is possible.

Objectives: To assess the awareness among patients of prospective orthodontics about post-orthodontic retention.

Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted from May 2022 to May 2023 at the Department of Orthodontics, Ziauddin University, Karachi, and comprised patients of either gender enrolled for their first appointment at the outpatient clinic. Each patient received a validated questionnaire which explored their understanding, attitudes and expectations regarding the importance of retention after orthodontic treatment.

Purpose: The prevalence of gingival recession in orthodontically treated patients and the relative impact of retainer type on its occurrence remain poorly understood. The objective of this study was to investigate the association between previous orthodontic treatment and retainer type on the long-term prevalence of gingival recession and to evaluate the role of other patient-related factors, such as gender, age, smoking and gingival phenotype.

Orthodontic relapse is one of the most prevalent concerns of orthodontic therapy. Relapse results in patients' teeth reverting towards their pretreatment positions, which increases the susceptibility to functional problems, dental disease, and substantially increases the financial burden for retreatment. This phenomenon is thought to be induced by rapid remodeling of the periodontal ligament (PDL) in the early stages and poor bone quality in the later stages.

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of repetitive removal/insertion and a load equivalent to the occlusal force on the retentive force of rest plate-I bar (RPI) clasps fabricated by selective laser melting (SLM) on powder bed fusion. RPI clasp fabricated by SLM and casting were evaluated to the retentive force by repetitive removal/insertion (SLM-RI and Cast-RI), and the retentive force of RPI clasp by SLM was also evaluated by repetitive removal/insertion under load (SLM-L). SLM-RI group was kept superior retentive force during repetitive removal/insertion than Cast-RI group.
