Published: October 2010

The purpose of this study was to examine the association between time of delivery and perinatal outcomes in singleton deliveries at Japanese Red Cross Katsushika Maternity Hospital. We performed a retrospective cohort study of all singleton deliveries at ≥ 22 weeks' gestation from 2002 through 2009 at our hospital. During the nighttime period (12 midnight to 8 am), although the rate of delivery of high-risk pregnancies was low, the rate of low umbilical artery pH (< 7) was higher than that during the daytime periods (8 am to 4 pm) (odds ratio 1.9, 95% confidence interval 1.1-3.4, p = 0.02). During the nighttime period, in addition, the rate of low umbilical artery pH in patients with emergent cesarean delivery was significantly higher than that during the daytime period (odds ratio 6.9; 95% confidence interval 2.5-19, p < 0.01). In our hospital, the rate of adverse neonatal outcomes associated with cesarean birth was increased at nighttime period.

Understanding the association between urban noise and nighttime light in China.

Nighttime light data partially reflects the process of urban modernization and its reaction to urban scale, but its correlation with noise remains unclear, especially over a long-term time series, remains unclear. To address this gap, we examine 31 provincial capital cities and municipalities in China as the study area, utilizing noise monitoring data and nighttime light data to explore their relationship in urban areas from 2012 to 2021. The results show that: (1) During the study period, the regional environmental noise and night light index of 31 major cities exhibited a consistent upward trend, with the average equivalent sound level of environmental noise in most urban areas fluctuating between 50.

Exploring the trend of long time-series ecological quality evolution and spatial differentiation of influencing factors in Guiyang is of great significance for realizing regional ecological protection and high-quality development strategies. Based on the 7-period Landsat remote sensing images from 1991 to 2020, the remote sensing ecological index (RSEI) of Guiyang from 1991 to 2020 was calculated using the GEE remote sensing big data platform, and a geodetector, Hurst index, and coefficient of variation with different random sampling quantities and classification strategies were used to analyze the evolutionary pattern of ecological quality, change trends, and spatial differentiation influencing factors. The results showed that ① The ecological quality of Guiyang in the past 30 years was mainly medium and good, showing a wave-like pattern of change, with the highest and lowest values occurring in 2020 (mean value 0.

Recent studies indicate that greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from agricultural drainage ditches can be significant on a per-unit area basis, but spatiotemporal investigations are still limited. Additionally, the impact of dredging - a common management in such environments - on ditch GHG emissions is largely unknown. This study presents year-round GHG emissions from nine ditches on a dairy farm in the center of the Netherlands, where each year, approximately half of the ditches are dredged in alternating cycles.

In an environment increasingly dominated by roads, wildlife crossing structures (WCS) have been installed to decrease wildlife mortality and improve habitat linkages. In South Texas, vehicle collisions have been a major mortality source for the endangered ocelot (). To mitigate threats to this species, eight WCS, along with associated fencing, were strategically placed along Farm-to-Market Road 106 (FM106), which passes through ocelot habitat.

Background: As Alzheimer disease (AD) and AD-related dementias (ADRD) progress, individuals increasingly require assistance from unpaid, informal caregivers to support them in activities of daily living. These caregivers may experience high levels of financial, mental, and physical strain associated with providing care. CareVirtue is a web-based tool created to connect and support multiple individuals across a care network to coordinate care activities and share important information, thereby reducing care burden.
