Article Abstract
The first objective was to assess whether healthy individuals could accurately estimate their weight-bearing distribution in sit-to-stand transfers. The second was to evaluate the effect of age on weight-bearing perception. 16 young participants (11 women, 5 men; M age 29 yr., SD = 8.7) and 15 elderly participants (7 women, 8 men; M age 65 yr., SD = 3.8) were recruited. Verbal instructions and visual feedback referring to different percentages of weight-bearing distribution to execute were used to quantify weight-bearing perception in sit-to-stand tasks. For the feedback approach, the perception was assessed with a visual analog scale. For the verbal task, the weight-bearing distribution produced was assessed with force plates. Both young and elderly participants had good perception of weight-bearing distribution, with mean absolute errors of 6.4%. Moreover, their perceived and real weight-bearing distribution showed good agreement (ICC > or = .79).

Introduction: High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is indicated for managing isolated medial knee osteoarthritis in a young patient with a metaphyseal deformity of the proximal tibia. In a medial open-wedge HTO, maintaining the integrity of the hinge is crucial for consolidation and preservation of the correction. Based on a validated model and preliminary results, the objective of this work was to measure and monitor the distribution of mechanical load on a locking fixation plate and the lateral hinge of an HTO using a finite element (FE) model during different phases of consolidation evolution, simulating single leg weightbearing.

Objective: To establish a finite element model of the knee joint based on coronal plane alignment of the knee (CPAK) typing method, and analyze the biomechanical characteristics of different types of knee joints.
Methods: The finite element models of the knee joint were established based on CT scan data of 6 healthy volunteers. There were 5 males and 1 female with an average age of 24.

The requirement for the development of advanced technologies is the need to create new functional thermostable soluble polysilsesquioxanes. Combining the potential of organosilicon chemistry and the chemistry of heterocyclic compounds is a promising direction for the formation of novel organosilicon polymer systems with new properties and new possibilities for their practical application. Using the classical method of hydrolysis and polycondensation of previously unknown trifunctional (trimethoxysilylpropyl)glutarimide in the presence or absence of an acid or base catalyst, a universal approach to the formation of new thermostable soluble polysilsesquioxanes with glutarimide side-chain groups is proposed, which forms the basis for the synthesis of polysilsesquioxane polymers with different functionality.

A seven-month-old male Pomeranian presented with left forelimb lameness after a fall. Radiographic assessment confirmed proximal radial head and ulnar comminuted fracture. The initial surgical intervention involved the use of hybrid external skeletal fixation (ESF) to stabilize the radial head, concomitant with the application of a composite of bone morphogenetic protein type 2 (BMP-2)-loaded hydroxyapatite and gelatin microparticles at the fracture site.
