Comparison of CPP uptake methods. | LitMetric

Comparison of CPP uptake methods.

Methods Mol Biol

Department of Neurochemistry, Stockholm University, Stockholm, Sweden.

Published: February 2011

In the last 15 years, an ever expanding pool of cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) has been discovered and recently focus has shifted towards improving already existing CPPs by different modifications. Since the number of published peptide sequences with cell-penetrating ability is now reaching several hundreds, the consensus methods to compare the efficacy of these is clearly needed. Many research groups are evaluating the applicability of CPPs as drug delivery vectors, all having their preferred methods of assessing uptake and intracellular distribution. Even when applying the same method, the use of different cell lines, peptide concentrations, exposure conditions, etc. are complicating comparison of data between different groups. This book is a welcome contribution to the CPP research field, hopefully paving the way for standardized protocols to be used in the future. Some of the most common methods used to this date are presented and compared in this chapter.

Background: The life expectancy of patients with schizophrenia is reduced, partly due to cardiovascular diseases. Antipsychotics are associated with QT interval prolongation, which is a risk factor for arrhythmia and cardiac arrest. The differences between antipsychotic with regard to QT interval prolongation are not well understood.

Limited exercise tolerance and dyspnea in patients with uncomplicated hypertension may pose a diagnostic challenge, particularly when blood pressure is normal and assessment results do not support a diagnosis of heart failure. The purpose of this study was to assess the differences in central blood pressure (cBP) response to exercise between females with hypertension and good exercise tolerance (non-dyspneic females, nDFs; n = 27) and those with dyspnea on exertion (dyspneic females, DFs; n = 25). We also investigated the relations of cBP and its dynamics with peak oxygen consumption (peak VO) and peak heart rate (peak HR) assessed by cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) and peak cardiac output (peak CO) assessed by impedance cardiography.

Background: During tooth preparation, the clinician may face a hard remineralized enamel surrounding the cavity with unknown effects on the enamel bond strength. This study aims to assess the effect of remineralizing pretreatments with casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) or CPP-amorphous calcium fluoride phosphate (CPP-ACFP) on the bond strength of composite resin and sound or demineralized enamel.

Materials And Methods: This study employed an experimental factorial design.

Objective: This study aimed to determine (1) how cepstral peak prominence (CPP) and the amplitude difference between the first two spectral harmonics (H-H) change as a function of using pressed and breathy voice production in vocally healthy individuals and (2) whether CPP and H-H can discriminate breathy and pressed phonation from typical phonation.

Method: Acoustic voice recordings were obtained from 50 vocally healthy individuals. Speech tasks included five repetitions of three sustained vowels (/ɑ, i, u/) and one all-voiced sentence ("We were away a year ago") using three voice production conditions (typical, breathy, and pressed).

Background: Clinical pharmacist practitioners (CPPs) are embedded in several Duke Primary Care (DPC) clinic locations. CPPs are able to independently modify medications and order labs within protocol in collaboration with a supervising physician. Patient no-shows for CPP appointments are costly to clinics.
