A study aimed at evaluating an effect of amrinone of blood circulation dynamics (cardiac output), using impedance ++rheography. The study involved patients with acute, congestive cardiac failure (NYHA III-IV degrees). Cardiac output was measured prior to and 3 and 24 hours following amrinone administration. A favourable effect of a 24-hour i.v. infusion of amrinone on blood circulation dynamics was confirmed. The drug proved to be proarrhythmic.

Background: Milrinone is commonly prescribed to critically ill patients who need extracorporeal life support such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Currently, the effect of ECMO and CRRT on the disposition of milrinone is unknown.
Methods: Ex vivo ECMO and CRRT circuits were primed with human blood and then dosed with milrinone to study drug extraction by the circuits.

Accurate detection of cardiovascular drugs in blood is complicated by interference from serum biomolecules. This study introduces a novel surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) platform incorporating "molecular hooks" to capture small drug molecules while excluding larger biomolecules selectively. The self-assembled nanoparticles with the A13 molecule enhance Raman signals by creating dense electromagnetic "hotspot" regions, achieving detection limits of 10 pg/mL for dobutamine hydrochloride and 10 ng/mL for milrinone-substantially below therapeutic thresholds.

Background: Hemoglobin‑oxygen (Hb-O) affinity is an important determinant for oxygen delivery and oxygen extraction. Although cardiovascular agents such as noradrenaline, adrenaline, atropine, milrinone and levosimendan are widely used in intensive care units worldwide, nothing is known about their possible effects on Hb-O affinity.
Methods: In this experimental ex-vivo trial, venous blood samples were taken from 5 male and 6 female volunteers and incubated with the particular cardiovascular agents.

Purpose: Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a rare but life-threatening clinical event for pediatric patients. Cerebral vasospasm is a common complication of SAH that often leads to poor outcomes. This case report describes the use of dual intraventricular (IVT) vasodilators in a pediatric patient.
