Diffuse sclerosing osteomyelitis (DSO) is a non-bacterial disease of the jawbone, characterized by intermittent pain, swelling, and a mixture of osteosclerosis and osteolysis on radiographs. Its etiology remains unclear, and a standard treatment, based on clear diagnostic criteria, has not been established. We present the case of a 48-year-old male patient, who was initially diagnosed with chronic mandibular osteomyelitis due to apical periodontitis in the right lower second premolar, and underwent antimicrobial medication and surgical therapy based on computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and bone scintigraphy.

Obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are chronic diseases with increasing prevalence, underscoring the urgent need for effective treatment and management strategies. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) have emerged as an essential class of drugs for managing both obesity and T2DM, offering additional benefits for cardiovascular and kidney health. GLP-1 RAs work by targeting GLP-1 receptors, mimicking the effects of the natural hormone GLP-1 to regulate blood glucose levels, promote weight loss, and provide potential benefits for cardiovascular health.

William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications, University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS, USA.

Objective: While endometriosis is estimated to affect 1 in 10 women globally, awareness of the disease as well as research and funding to fight the disease remains lacking as compared with other chronic diseases. This study examines how social media users utilized Instagram to raise awareness of and mobilize activism around endometriosis by analyzing prominent topics, word associations, and feminism themes in endometriosis-tagged posts on Instagram.

Methods: We used a mixed-method approach of combining computational analyses (topic modeling and word association) and human coding (qualitative thematic analysis) of Instagram posts on endometriosis.
