More and more new immunostimulatory substances are developed. Besides old and new drugs have to be examined with regard to their side effects. Hence it follows demands for effective test possibilities. The lymphocyte transformation test with mononuclear cells of old men is a suitable in vitro method for testing of substances with thymic hormone-like activity in order to investigate the structure-effect-relationships. Thymopentin, human splenopentin and human diacetyl-splenopentin increase the phytohaemagglutinin induced lymphocyte transformation, on the other hand in the case of bovine splenopentin and human splenotritin this effect was not observed. By means of a patient with hypogammaglobulinaemia is demonstrated that the lymphocyte transformation test could also be a suitable method for the estimation of pharmacodynamics such peptides after in vivo treatment.

Background: Cancer immune responses are generated in secondary lymphoid organs, such as the lymph nodes and tonsils. In the current study, transcriptional profiles of peritumoral tonsillar tissues (PTTs) from oropharyngeal cancers (OPCs) were assessed and compared with those of inflammatory tonsils and regional lymph nodes (rLNs).
Methods: RNA samples of PTTs and rLNs from 13 OPCs, and 4 inflammatory tonsils were subjected to microarray analysis, and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) identified from 730 nCounter Panel immune-related genes.

Immune checkpoint molecules, including both co-inhibitory molecules and co-stimulatory molecules, are known to play critical roles in regulating T-cell responses. During the last decades, immunotherapies targeting these molecules (such as programmed cell death 1 (PD-1), and lymphocyte activation gene 3 (LAG-3)) have provided clinical benefits in many cancers.
