(--)-alpha-Bisabolol has a primary antipeptic action depending on dosage, which is not caused by an alteration of the pH-value. The proteolytic activity of pepsin is reduced by 50 percent through addition of bisabolol in the ratio of 1/0.5. The antipeptic action of bisabolol only occurs in case of direct contact. In case of a previous contact with the substrate, the inhibiting effect is lost.

Eupatilin, a major pharmacologically active ingredient in Stillen, has been known to possess anti-peptic, anti-cancer and anti-allergy activities. A rapid, simple, sensitive and specific high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) method for the simultaneous determination of eupatilin and its main metabolite (eupatilin-7β-O-glucuronide, E-7-G) in rat plasma and tissues was established and validated. The linear range of eupatilin and E-7-G was 0.

Irsogladine maleate (2,4-diamino-6-[2,5-dichlorophenyl]-s-triazine maleate; IM), an anti-peptic ulcer drug, may have a protective effect on the gastrointestinal mucosa. This study investigated the effects of IM on spontaneous colitis in interleukin-10 gene-deficient (IL-10(-/-)) mice. Five-week-old IL-10(-/-) mice were fed a control diet or one containing 100 ppm of IM for 10 weeks.
