Purpose: Fluoroquinolones are antibiotics associated with adverse events that prompted the European Medicines Agency to implement risk minimization measures (RMMs) in 2018/19 and 2020. Our aim is to assess the RMMs' impact on antibiotic prescriptions in primary care during 2014-2023.

Methods: We assessed antibiotic prescriptions using CPRD GOLD (the United Kingdom, UK) and PHARMO (the Netherlands, NL).

Purpose: This study investigated the effects of pre-operative topical moxifloxacin prior to cataract surgery on the growth of ocular surface bacteria and induced antibiotic resistance after a 3-day course of moxifloxacin.

Methods: The study was a prospective, dual arm, randomized study. The study group of 17 patients used moxifloxacin four times daily, for three days prior to surgery.

Purpose: After initial approval of lenvatinib for radioiodine-refractory differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC), it has also shown promising outcomes in among others metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC). Given that trial populations typically do not represent routine clinical care populations, questions arise about how applicable trial outcomes are in clinical practice. This study aims to compare the pharmacokinetics (PK), toxicity patterns, and survival data of lenvatinib in a real-world cohort with DTC and mRCC to those observed in pivotal clinical trials.

Radical-Triggered Bicyclization and Aryl Migration of 1,7-Diynes with Diphenyl Diselenide for the Synthesis of Selenopheno[3,4-]quinolines.

The translocation of an aryl group from selenium into carbon enabled by the cleavage of the C-Se bond is reported by using nitrogen atom-linked 1,7-diynes and diaryl diselenides as starting materials, leading to various selenophene derivatives in a regioselective manner. This method enables the construction of two C-Se bonds and two C-C bonds through sequential radical bicyclization and 1,2-aryl migration under metal-free conditions. Control experiments and mechanistic studies suggest that this reaction proceeds through the cleavage of the inert C(Ph)-Se bond, facilitating the aryl translocation process.

Objectives: In Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates, emerging meropenem resistance beyond imipenem resistance has become a problem. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between the in vivo acquisition of antimicrobial resistance in fluoroquinolone- and carbapenem-resistant P. aeruginosa clinical isolates, the underlying molecular mechanisms, and exposure to antimicrobial agents.
