Seaweed-derived compounds are a renewable resource utilised in the manufacturing and food industry. This study focuses on an enriched seaweed extract (ESE) isolated from The ESE was screened for antiviral activity by plaque reduction assays against influenza A/Puerto Rico/8/1934 H1N1 (PR8), A/X-31 H3N2 (X31) and A/England/195/2009 H1N1 (Eng195), resulting in the complete inhibition of infection. Time of addition assays and FACS analysis were used to help determine the modes of action.

This review describes the enhanced classification of polyphenols into flavonoids, lignans, phenolic acids, stilbenes, and tannins. Its focus is the natural sources of polyphenols and an in-depth discussion of their antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral activity. Besides a broad literature overview, this paper contains authors' experimental data according to some daily consumed vegetables such as tomatoes, different varieties of onion, garlic, parsley, and cayenne pepper and the probable relation of these activities to polyphenols.

Background: Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) has a high incidence and mortality rate, representing a significant patient burden. Therefore, treatment strategies that work synergistically with hypothermic therapies are urgently required. Punicalagin (PUN) is a natural and safe polyphenol with anti-inflammatory functions whose excellent water solubility and safety make it an advantageous perinatal medication.

This study aims to evaluate the impact of formulation parameters on tannic acid-crosslinked gelatine (GelTA) films, intended as a mucoadhesive matrix for extended buccal drug delivery. GelTA films were prepared using the solvent evaporation technique and screened based on their mucoadhesive and dissolution characteristics. The formulation variables included the source of gelatine (bovine and fish), tannic acid concentration, pH of the film-forming solutions, and the type and concentration of plasticisers.
