Microsaccade selectivity as discriminative feature for object decoding.

iScience

January 2025

School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, University of Tehran, Tehran 14399-57131, Iran.

Microsaccades, a form of fixational eye movements, help maintain visual stability during stationary observations. This study examines the modulation of microsaccadic rates by various stimulus categories in monkeys and humans during a passive viewing task. Stimulus sets were grouped into four primary categories: human, animal, natural, and man-made.

Pronouns create cohesive links in discourse by referring to previously mentioned elements. Here, we focus on pronominalization during speech production in three experiments employing ERP and fMRI methodologies. Participants were asked to produce two short sentences describing a man or woman using an object.

Objectives: This study compared the characteristics of lesions suspicious for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and their LI-RADS classifications in adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASIR) and deep learning reconstruction (DLR) to those of MR images, along with radiologist confidence.

Materials And Methods: This prospective single-center trial included patients who underwent four-phase liver CT and multiphasic contrast-enhanced MRI within 7 days from February to August 2023. The lesion characteristics, LI-RADS classifications and confidence scores according to two radiologists on the ASIR, DLR and MRI techniques were compared.

Unlabelled: Post-stroke cognitive impairments are widespread and significantly reduce the quality of life and rehabilitation prognosis of patients. Clinical observations show a serious variability of cognitive impairments in patients after acute cerebrovascular accident. Thus, the classification of above mentioned disorders, based on which it would be possible to determine the order of individualization of a cognitive rehabilitation program, is currently not available in literature.

Construction of Chirality-Sorting Optical Force Pairs.

Phys Rev Lett

December 2024

Optics Research Group, Delft University of Technology, Department of Imaging Physics, Lorentzweg 1, 2628CJ Delft, The Netherlands.

Chiral objects are abundant in nature, and although the enantiomers have almost identical physical properties apart from their handedness, they can exhibit significantly different chemical properties and biological functions. This underscores the importance of sorting chiral substances. In this Letter, we demonstrate that chirality-sorting optical force pairs can be inversely generated in a tightly focused Gaussian beam by tailoring the input polarization state.
