Dnmt3a-mediated DNA Methylation Regulates P. gingivalis-suppressed Cementoblast Mineralization Partially Via Mitochondria-dependent Apoptosis Pathway.

Inflammation

January 2025

State Key Laboratory of Oral & Maxillofacial Reconstruction and Regeneration, Key Laboratory of Oral Biomedicine Ministry of Education, Hubei Key Laboratory of Stomatology, School & Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China.

Background: DNA methyltransferase 3A (Dnmt3a) is an enzyme that catalyzes the de novo methylation of DNA, and plays essential roles in a wide range of physiological and pathological processes. However, it remains unclear whether Porphyromonas gingivalis affects cementoblasts, the cells responsible for cementum formation, through Dnmt3a.

Methods: The samples were collected from models of mouse periapical lesions and mice of different ages, and the expression of Dnmt3a was detected through immunofluorescence.

Background: Engagement of clinicians who understand clinical workflows and technology constraints can accelerate the development and implementation of better electronic health record (EHR) designs that improve quality and reduce burnout. Provider builder programs can accelerate clinical informatics education for a broader coalition of clinical specialties.

Objective: In this State of the Art / Best Practice paper, we aim to (1) propose a provider builder maturity model informed by the experience of three institutions using a single EHR vendor (Epic Systems©) and (2) describe the program elements and relationships necessary to advance along this model to yield organizational benefits.

An Updated Bio-Behavioral Profile of the Flinders Sensitive Line Rat: Reviewing the Findings of the Past Decade.

Pharmacol Res Perspect

February 2025

Faculty of Health Sciences, Centre of Excellence for Pharmaceutical Sciences, North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa.

The Flinders sensitive line (FSL) rat is an accepted rodent model for depression that presents with strong face, construct, and predictive validity, thereby making it suitable to investigate novel antidepressant mechanisms. Despite the translatability of this model, available literature on this model has not been reviewed for more than ten years. The PubMed, ScienceDirect and Web of Science databases were searched for relevant articles between 2013 and 2024, with keywords relating to the Flinders line rat, and all findings relevant to treatment naïve animals, included.

Background: SuperAgers-individuals age 80+ with episodic memory performance at least as good as those 20-30 years younger-provide a unique perspective on cognitive resilience and resistance in aging. The SuperAging Research Initiative (SRI), spearheaded by The University of Chicago and involving multiple academic partners, investigates factors underpinning robust cognitive aging. One key SRI project, leverages a fully remote data collection paradigm to: 1) discern activity patterns that characterize SuperAgers and 2) explore the 'complexity hypothesis in aging'-whether dynamic physiological responsiveness is a hallmark of exceptional cognitive aging.

Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Champaign, IL, USA.

Background: No study has synthesized evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) testing the acute and chronic effects of reallocating sedentary time (ST) to physical activity (PA) on cognitive and brain health across the lifespan.

Method: Seven academic databases were systematically searched on October 26, 2022, with an updated search on June 23, 2023. Inclusion criteria encompassed RCTs published in English involving healthy participants aged ≥ 4 years.
