Estrogens act by binding to and activating two estrogen receptors (ERs), ERα and ERβ. Transcriptional regulation by ERs is controlled by a complex array of factors such as ER-ligand binding, the DNA sequence bound by ERs, ER-interacting cofactors, and chromatin context. This minireview will provide an overview of the most recent advances in the identification of ERβ-regulated target gene networks and ERβ DNA-binding sites. We also highlight the recent work establishing new roles of ERβ signaling, including protective functions in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition and in atherosclerosis, as well as regulation of cell proliferation in the colon.

Ovarian-derived estrogen can signal non-canonically at membrane-associated receptors in the brain to rapidly regulate neuronal function. Early alcohol drinking confers greater risk for alcohol use disorder in women than men, and binge alcohol drinking is correlated with high estrogen levels, but a causal role for estrogen in driving alcohol drinking has not been established. We found that female mice displayed greater binge alcohol drinking and reduced avoidance when estrogen was high during the estrous cycle than when it was low.

Objective: This study investigates the MRI characteristics of primary and metastatic adult granulosa cell tumor with normal estrogen levels (AGCT-NEL) to enhance clinical understanding and diagnostic accuracy of this disease.
Methods: We collected clinical data from 10 patients with AGCT-NEL, confirmed by pathology, treated at our hospital from January 2016 to January 2024. We retrospectively analyzed the MRI features of primary and metastatic lesions from aspects such as shape, edge characteristics, MRI signal, and enhancement features.

Strychni Semen, characterized by its bitter taste and warm properties, has been confirmed to possess anti-tumor properties. However, the molecular mechanism of Strychni Semen in treating non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) needs further study. This study aimed to explore the molecular mechanism of Strychni Semen in treating NSCLC based on network pharmacology and molecular docking.

Bisphenols can enter the body, where they have potential adverse effects on human health, via different routes such as inhalation, dermally or orally. They are known as endocrine disrupting chemicals that activate signaling pathways by mimicking the estrogen actions. In this study, we aimed to investigate effects of bisphenol A (BPA), and its analogues bisphenol F (BPF) and bisphenol S (BPS) on MCF-10A cells and their impact mechanisms on autophagy, apoptosis and reduced glutathion levels.

Ovarian development is a complex process involving multiple genes, but the molecular mechanisms underlying this process in Takifugu rubripes remain poorly understood. This study aimed to identify genes associated with ovarian development in T. rubripes and to investigate the regulatory mechanisms of oocyte maturation.
