Many patients with neurogenic bladders require careful monitoring in order to decrease the risk of infectious and renal complications. Urodynamic testing, with particular attention paid to detrusor pressures, is helpful for risk stratification in these patients and provides key information when assessing effectiveness of treatments. This article reviews the history, indications, and contemporary parameters for urodynamic testing in the neurogenic population.

Introduction: Spina bifida is a condition that impacts the development of the neural tube leading to urological and gastrointestinal symptoms. Both systems are influenced together due to their shared innervation and embryological origin. Despite its impact on health and well-being there has been limited research on the relationship between manometry results and urodynamic tests, in this patient population.

: Postsurgical lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD) is a common problem following deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) resection. The condition may be caused either by surgically induced damage to the bladder innervation or by pre-existing endometriosis-associated nerve damage. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of preoperative and postoperative multichannel urodynamic testing (UD) in identifying pre-existing or surgically induced LUTD among patients with DIE.

Objective: To investigate the impact of body mass index (BMI) on preoperative characteristics, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), intraoperative variables, surgical outcomes and postoperative complications.
Methods: This is a retrospective observational study including 891 benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) patients who underwent GreenLight Laser photoselective vaporization of the prostate (PVP) between 2014 and 2020. Clinical characteristics, uroflowmetry parameters, and surgery related parameters were extracted from electronic health records.

Urinary incontinence is a common complaint of both general practitioners and specialists. An accurate basic diagnosis with a structured medical history and bladder diary, urine analysis, gynaecological examination including pelvic floor assessment and a full bladder cough test can be supplemented by sonography, cystoscopy and urodynamic testing. This will help to differentiate between the different types of urinary incontinence, such as urge incontinence, stress incontinence and overflow incontinence.

Aims: Insights into the role of the urethra in maintaining continence and in normal voiding have been provided with advances in imaging techniques. Also, functional urethral testing is used to understand which treatments are optimal for women with functional bladder outlet obstruction (BOO), but which testing is better for which treatment? This review aims to describe our current understanding of female urethral function and dysfunction and to provide future research directions for treating functional female urethral disorders.
Materials And Methods: This is a consensus report of the proceedings of a research proposal discussed at the annual International Consultation on Incontinence-Research Society (ICI-RS), 6th-8th June 2024 (Bristol, UK): "Do we need to re-focus on functional female urethral disorders in lower urinary tract dysfunction? ICI-RS 2024".
