Since its inception in 2003, the African Society of Human Genetics (AfSHG) has been central to the promotion of genetics research on the continent, and facilitated the networking of African researchers within Africa and abroad, thereby significantly contributing to the career development of African geneticists. The continuation of these accomplishments was stimulated by the 12 international conference of AfSHG held jointly with the 1 Congress of the Malian Society of Human Genetics (MSHG) in Bamako, Mali from September 18 to 21 2019. The main theme of the conference was "Human Genetics and Genomics as a Unifying Factor for Harmony and Progress in Africa".

Objectives: Comprehensive packages for training healthcare professionals who care for premature newborns are scarce. AIIMS WHO CC, New Delhi, partnered with India Association of Neonatal Nurses (IANN) and National Neonatology Forum (NNF) and 35 national leaders in the field of newborn care to develop a multimodal educational package for preterm infants.
Methods: Findings from evaluation of four representative special newborn care units in the state of Madhya Pradesh informed the content of the package.

Background: Femoral neck fracture (FNF) is a prevalent injury among the elderly, associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Total joint arthroplasty (TJA) has markedly enhanced the quality of life for many patients; however, the benefits of the direct anterior approach (DAA), which has gained popularity in recent years, remain a subject of debate. Sarcopenia frequently occurs in patients with FNF and is linked to adverse surgical outcomes.
