Objective: As resin-modified glass-ionomer cement (RMGIC) is an adhesive material, its association to dentin bonding agents (DBAs) was previously proposed. This study investigated the adjunctive behavior of an RMGIC with etch-and-rinse bonding systems under in situ/ex vivo cariogenic challenge.

Method And Materials: Bovine enamel blocks (3 3 3 3 2 mm) were randomly assigned to group VP, Vitremer + its own primer (3M ESPE); group VSB, Vitremer + Single Bond (3M ESPE); and group VPB, Vitremer + Prime and Bond 2.1 (Dentsply). Two blocks of each group were randomly placed in an acrylic palatal appliance, so each appliance included six blocks. Volunteers (n = 10) wore these appliances according to given instructions to promote a sucrose challenge eight times/day for 15 days. After this period, the blocks were removed from the devices and cleaned, and demineralization was assessed through longitudinal microhardness analysis (Knoop indenter, 25 g/5 s). Data were submitted to three-way ANOVA and Tukey test (P < .05).

Results: No treatment was able to completely avoid demineralization. All materials showed a statistically significant difference in mineral loss when the microhardness on the outer enamel was compared with deeper regions (P < .05).

Conclusion: Association of the tested RMGICs with etch-and-rinse DBAs did not seem to be more beneficial against caries than the conventional treatment with RMGIC.

Extracorporeal liver surgery (ELS), also known as liver autotransplantation, is a hybrid (cross-fertilized) surgery incorporating the technical knowledge from extreme liver and transplant liver surgeries, and recently became more embraced and popularized among leading centers. ELS could be summarized into three major categories, namely, ex-situ liver resection and autotransplantation (ELRA), ante-situm liver resection and autotransplantation (ALRA) and auxiliary partial liver autotransplantation (APLA). The successful development of ELS during the past 37 years is definitely inseparable from continuous efforts done by Chinese surgeons and researchers.

Purpose: The aim of this scoping review is to categorize 3D-printing applications of polymeric materials into those where there is evidence to support their clinical application and to list the clinical applications that require a greater evidence base or further development before adoption.

Materials And Methods: An electronic search on PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus (Elsevier), and Cochrane Library databases was conducted, including articles written in English and published between January 2003 and September 2023. The search terms were: ((3D printing) OR (3-dimensional printing) OR (three dimensional printing) OR (additive manufacturing)) AND ((polymer) OR (resin)) AND (dent*).

Objectives: The aim for this pilot study was to investigate the effect of a sodium fluoride varnish on step height measured by a profilometer from human enamel worn by healthy volunteers with a novel in situ/ex vivo erosion design.

Method: Healthy volunteers aged 18-70 years wore a palatal splint containing 8 human enamel samples and underwent two 3-day treatment periods for 6 h a day with a varnish containing sodium fluoride at 22,600 ppm and the control with the same ingredients but without fluoride. Each splint contained 4 polished and 4 unpolished samples.

Objective: To systematize tactical and technical aspects of liver resections with reconstruction of afferent and efferent blood supply and/or inferior vena cava; to study postoperative outcomes in patients with focal liver lesions using transplantation technologies.

Material And Methods: We enrolled 413 patients with parasitic lesions, primary and secondary liver tumors involving great vessels (portal vein, hepatic artery, hepatic veins, inferior vena cava, right atrium). All ones underwent liver resections with vascular resection and reconstruction, as well as liver autotransplantation in vivo, ante situ (ex situ in vivo), extracorporeal liver resections with autotransplantation (ex vivo).

Background: Healthcare simulators have been demonstrated to be a valuable resource for training several technical and nontechnical skills. A gap in the fidelity of tissues has been acknowledged as a barrier to application for current simulators; especially for interventional procedures. Inaccurate or unrealistic mechanical response of a simulated tissue to a given surgical tool motion may result in negative training transfer and/or prevents the "suspension of disbelief" necessary for a trainee to engage in the activity.
