The use of self expandable metallic stents (SEMS) in the palliation of dysphagia due to malignant esophageal stenosis is a gold standard. Covered stents are used in all cases with overt air-digestive fistula or high potential for fistula development. The procedure is associated with a low incidence of procedure-related complications. We present a case with a major accident which developed during stent deployment. The delivery system became blocked and we found it impossible to fully deploy the stent, which remained attached to the introductory system. The stent was forcefully removed and replaced later on with a new stent. This is the first report of a SEMS related accident due to malfunction of the stent deployment system. Stent malfunction is unusual and unlikely to happen, but one should be aware and prepared for such unusual situations.

Although Pb-based metal halide perovskites (MHPs) have excellent photoelectric characteristics, their toxicity remains a limiting factor for their widespread application. In the paper, a series of CsCuClxBr3-x (x = 1, 2, 3) MHP microcrystals were developed and their hydrogen evolution performance in ethanol and HX (X = Cl, Br) was also studied. Among them, CsCuCl3 microcrystals exhibit high hydrogen evolution performance in both HX and ethanol, attributed to their longest average lifetime and suitable band structure.

A porous, photocatalytically active, and water-stable composite membrane has been developed based on Cu-NH-MIL-125(Ti), a titanium-based metal-organic framework (MOF) and PVDF polymeric matrix. To tune the structural and functional properties of the PVDF/MOF composites, the loading degree of the MOF within the polymer was systematically varied. The most effective performance of the composite material was achieved with a 10% wt/wt loading of MOF into the PVDF matrix.

Background: To compare the performance of a new-generation cobalt-chromium balloon-expandable bare metal stent with a stainless steel platform for the treatment of iliac occlusive disease.
Methods: Consecutive patients treated for symptomatic iliac occlusive disease between 2014 and 2021 with the cobalt-chromium Dynetic-35 or the stainless steel Dynamic platform were retrospectively evaluated. Outcome measures included technical success, device- or procedure-related death, clinically-driven target lesion revascularization (CD-TLR), primary patency, and major index limb amputation up to 12 months.

Bile duct injuries are a serious issue, and their surgical treatment carries the risk of morbidity and mortality. In selected cases, non-surgical treatments are possible, even for total strictures. We outline the technique and results of using magnetic compression anastomosis (MCA) to treat post-cholecystectomy bile duct stricture (PCBDS), in two female patients.

To achieve the commercialization of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors, the identification of an appropriate combination of 2D semiconductors and three-dimensional (3D) metals is crucial. Furthermore, understanding the van der Waals (vdW) interactions between these materials in thin-film semiconductor processes is essential. Optimizing these interactions requires precise control over the properties of the vdW interface through specific pre- or post-treatment methods.
