Elite controllers or suppressors (ES) are HIV-1-infected patients who maintain viral loads of <50 copies/ml without antiretroviral therapy. While HLA-B*57 and B*5801 alleles are overrepresented in ES, many HLA-B*57/B*5801 patients become chronic progressors (CP). We show here that HIV-1 infection results in similar levels of downregulation of HLA-B*57 and HLA-B*5801 molecules on primary CD4(+) T cells from ES and CP. Thus, differences in HIV-1-mediated downregulation of HLA-B*57/B*5801 molecules do not distinguish ES from CP.

Aims: In people living with human immune deficiency (PLHIV), the rates of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, mixed types, and high-risk (HR) strains increase, while the virus clearance is prevented. Here, we report HPV genotyping in PLHIVs from Iran and the Middle East region for the first time.
Methods: HPV genotyping in referring individuals from different provinces to our laboratory was evaluated over 2023-2024.
Introduction: Tat protein is a trans-activator of HIV-1 genome transcription, with additional functions including the ability to induce the chronic inflammatory process. Natural amino acid polymorphisms in Tat may affect its functional properties and the course of HIV infection. The aim of this work is to analyze the marks of Tat consensus sequences in non-A6 HIV-1 variants characteristic of the Russian Federation, as well as study natural polymorphisms in Tat CRF63_02A6 and subtype B variants circulating in Russia.

Albuvirtide (ABT) is a novel long-acting fusion inhibitor for human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), and may be co-administered with rifampicin (RIF) in patients concurrent with tubercle bacillus and HIV-1.
